Riverdale Cast Shares BTS Story That Proves Jughead Didn’t Die

Riverdale is known for two things: confusing storyline and crazy cliffhangers. Plus, they’re really into teasing Jughead’s death for some reason. We all admit that it’s a bizarre show, with even the cast members themselves admitting it. Though, some of us just simply can’t stop watching. And yes, that some of us include me. I came across an interview with the Riverdale cast and something they said gave me definitive proof that Jughead isn’t dead.

Season 3 Cliffhanger Teasing Jughead’s Death

First, let’s remember the cliffhanger in Riverdale season 3. We saw Archie (KJ Apa), Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) standing in the middle of the woods in their underwear. Betty was holding Jughead’s beanie and throwing it at a campfire. An interesting detail was that they were all covered in blood. (Yep, nothing in Riverdale makes sense).

Anywho, Betty uttered these words while throwing Jughead’s beanie into the fire:

We have to burn all our clothes, including Jughead’s beanie. We’ll wash off the blood in the swimming hole. After tonight, we never speak of this, ever. Not to each other, not to our parents. No one.

This was suspenseful enough. But the line after it got everyone to assume that Jughead (Cole Sprouse) may actually be dead in the coming season:

We finish our senior year and graduate, and we’ll go our separate ways. That is the only way that we won’t get caught.

Get caught? Knowing Riverdale, that crime could be a million different things.

Riverdale Cast States that Cole Sprouse Was In the Original Scene

But the Riverdale cast had some interesting details to share about the scene. In an interview with TV Line, the cast revealed that Jughead (Cole Sprouse) was originally supposed to be in the scene. Though, since Cole Sprouse was cold, he ended up not doing it.

KJ Apa stated:

The only reason why that [scene] happened is ’cause Cole was cold that night

Lili Reinhart chimed in:

It was scripted all four of us and he was like, ‘I don’t wanna do it,’ so he didn’t.

Though actress Camila Mendes thinks that the writers already wanted to go with this teaser:

I think they [writers] had the idea, like they wanted to play with that idea in Season 4, so then Cole being cold was just like the final straw.

It’s clear that the writers of the show incorporate ideas into the show spontaneously (which explains a lot). But the fact that Cole Sprouse was in the original scene means that he probably is still alive.

Maybe, Jughead was also involved in whatever crime Betty, Veronica and Archie committed and he was somewhere else hiding.

It just won’t make any sense to kill off Jughead since he’s one of the things that attracts a lot of people to still watch the show. He’s also the narrator. Without Jughead’s narration and his investigations, there would be no Riverdale. I’m sure the writers understand that and won’t kill him off.

But who knows? Anything can happen.
