Every single Game Of Thrones fan has celebrated the iconic death of the Night King (NK) in the latest episode. Some loved the fact that Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) was the one to kill him instead of Jon Snow (Kit Harrington), though some were not. Whatever the opinion you have on it, everyone can agree it was an epic and unpredictable moment. Even after 6 days of the Game of Thrones season 8 episode 3 release, fans are still celebrating the fall of the Night King. However,there’s one theory that might take all our joy away. Some fan theorists are speculating that the Night King never died!
If you want to know how in the world that is possible, read on!
Vladimir Furdik, who played the role of Night King since season 6, may have died when Arya Stark stabbed him with the Valyrian Steel dagger. But what if he is not? That would totally twist things up!
Well! We saw the Night King and his Wights all become icy dust in the blink of an eye when Arya shoved that dagger. The Night King died, Viserion died, the band of long-haired-brothers standing behind the Night King died, in fact, every enemy on that ground of Winterfell died. Except One. This theory sticks to the old theory that Bran Stark is the true Night King. Oh my god, right?
Previously, the theory was not that appealing. However, after the Battle of Winterfell and the way Night King met his end, the theory now starts to make some sense. Whoever we saw dying is really dead but the Night King has a complicated history. And we’re guessing that history will bite us in the ass in coming episodes.
Whoever came up with the theory is a genius, no doubt on that. The theory on Reddit, by logicman101, says the ending of episode 3 seems too good to be true. We are not actually against Arya Stark stabbing the NK. That scene really had us all screaming our lungs out in utter blissful joy. However, the theory says we have not really seen the end of the NK; the True NK.
If NK was not dead, his meeting with Bran Stark had the potential to reveal that Bran Stark is the true NK. When the Night King raised his right hand towards his sword he had no intention of killing Bran. He was about to kneel with his sword in order to pass on his magic and powers to Bran Stark; the three-eyed raven. The theory also suggests that we will still get to see it happening in one of Bran Stark’s visions of the alternate reality in the upcoming episodes of Game of Thrones season 8.
They believe Azor Ahai will play out the prophecy and Jon Snow will kill the true NK. So, the critics will be satisfied with the fact that Jon Snow didn’t get to kill the enemy he was chasing for so long.
The theory also adds that maybe Bran was being a GPS and leading the NK directly to him. Which explains why he did not save Theon Greyjoy when he could have just asked him to leave instead of running towards the Night King on a suicide mission.
The theory also suggests that the true Night King or the next in line Night King (Bran) will probably be defeated by some knowledge Tyrion Lannister gathered during his conversation with Bran.
It is also believed that scene of Tyrion and Bran about to have a conversation truly foreshadowed something to come, some knowledge Tyrion learnt from Bran to defeat him. The Tyrion we know will definitely do something huge in the remaining episodes, since his intellectual powers weren’t really being utilized to their fullest in the recent episodes.
The show-runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss answered few questions about the series on Jimmy Kimmel Live Show this Thursday. When Kimmel asked;
“Are we, for sure, done with the White Walkers?”
Benioff answered,
“Yeah, we’re not gonna answer that”.
Since they did not deny it, it might really be true. Guess we will just have to wait and see for ourselves how the mystery unfolds. Episode 4 will be out in few hours. Fingers Crossed!
