For Millennials. By Millennials.
So here comes another season of Pop’s milkshakes and uncanny board games. CW has officially renewed Riverdale for another season. Although the current season 3 is yet to complete its run, the network has given Riverdale Season 4 a go owing to satisfactory ratings. At this point, there is a lot to talk about the crazy stuff that is going on in Riverdale. For instance the farm, the shooting of Hiram Lodge, the Gargoyle King, the SATs, and the universal applicability hot-bod Archie Andrews’ uselessness. But before we can do any of that, there is a lot of stuff about the upcoming Riverdale Season 4 that you should know. Especially, the release date!
Riverdale Season 4 Release Date: Show To Not Be Out Until Early Next Year
Fans should not expect a Riverdale Season 4 release date earlier than early next year. Why? In previous times, Riverdale has never taken long breaks between its consecutive seasons. However, this time things will be clearly different. CW has picked up a new season order for the show at a time when silver screen projects have already preoccupied the core four.
KJ Apa stars in the upcoming Netflix movie ‘Last Summer‘ while Camila Mendes is busy with ‘The Perfect Date’ (where she co-stars alongside Noah Centineo), and ‘Cayote Lake’. Cole Sprouse too, will also soon star in the romantic drama film ‘Five Feet Apart‘. At a time like this, the main Riverdale Season 4 cast will be largely unavailable for a rigorous and tiresome shoot schedule. Apart from this, the show will also need a fair amount of reinvention before its core four transitions from high school to college.
The second half of Riverdale Season 3 is treating the climaxes of its previous seasons like abstract threads. We always knew that there was more to Cliff Blossom suicide. But the truth did not come out until only recently. Similarly, the last few episodes will reveal more about the Cooper-Blossom lineage. Hopefully sending Penelope and Hal to the sunset for good. With Riverdale Season 3 seemingly attempting to tie all the loose strings together, it is imminent that the makers are trying to rejig the plot for Riverdale Season 4.
Riverdale Season 4 To Move Out Of Riverdale?
Another reason that might delay the Riverdale Season 4 release date is that the upcoming season might not primarily find itself being limited to the South side of the Sweetwater river. The Riverdale season 4 cast is all prepped up to make internal migrations for college. Hence to allow for a more geographically inclusive show, Riverdale will need some extra time.
Is CW Prioritizing The Riverdale Katy Keene Spin-Off?
Furthermore, CW has also given a nod to another Riverdale spin-off based on the Archie Comics Universe. Katy Keene will take years after the events at Riverdale High. The new show will follow the story of America’s Queen of Pin-Ups and Fashions as she struggles to become a fashion designer. Since Riverdale Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is helming the spin-off’s pilot, he will need to adjust his schedule to accommodate Riverdale’s new season. And this is clearly indicated that the Riverdale Season 4 release date will be pushed further.
Riverdale makers are already busy with their first spin-off on Netflix, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. The successful horror drama, which has had only subtle crossovers with Riverdale, will air its season 2 later this year.
Actors Who Will Join The Riverdale Season 4 Cast
Names include KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart (Betty Cooper), Camila Mendes (Veronica Lodge), Cole Sprouse (Jughead Jones). Marisol Nichols (Hermione Lodge), Madelaine Petsch (Cheryl Blossom), Ashleigh Murray (Josie McCoy). Mädchen Amick (Alice Cooper). Luke Perry (Fred Andrews) Mark Consuelos (Hiram Lodge), Casey Cott (Kevin Keller) and Skeet Ulrich (FP Jones) will all probably return as the Riverdale Season 4 cast.
Recent entrants including Kelly Ripa, Gina Gershon, and Trinity Likins will also be getting more screen space in the upcoming season.
Riverdale stars and creators have all confirmed the show’s renewal. KJ Apa posted a pic of the “core four” to Instagram, writing, “Love you all and pumped to do it again. Congrats to all on Season 4.”
