Top 5 Fantasy Based TV Shows Of All Time

Sometimes reality can be a little gloomy and going into a fantasy world is just what you need. A place where humans can transform into werewolves and people have dragons as pets. An alternate reality so far from truth, that gives you the perfect escape. This may also be the reason why fantasy shows have such a big fan following. And today we are here to share a list of the best fantasy based tv shows list with you guys.

Some of the most popular fantasy based tv shows that have been off the air for a while are still talked about with fans making trends related to the show. Here is a list of some of the top five best fantasy based tv shows out there.

1. Lucifer

The most significant focal point of watching Lucifer is the main character himself, Lucifer (played by Tom Ellis). A charismatic yet witty character that instantly became everyone’s favorite when the first season aired in 2016. The show follows Lucifer (yes, the devil) who moves to Los Angeles because he gets tired of his job (being the guardian of hell). He is shown to be the life of the party and the owner of a nightclub.

However, things take a turn when his friend is murdered. That is when he decides to help the detective on the case, Chloe Decker (played by Lauren German). When Lucifer helps Chloe solve the murder, he then decides to become a consultant for the LAPD. The show follows Chloe and Lucifer on their journey to being a team.

Apart from Lucifer himself, the show offers an extremely talented cast with various supporting characters loved by many. However, that is only the tip of the iceberg of what the show actually offers. Another reason the show managed to grab the attention of so many is the storyline that always keeps you on edge. Every episode provides a completely new context. All the while providing insight into Lucifer’s life and giving background to the people around him. Lucifer falls within some of the most loved fantasy based tv shows because it’s very rare you get to see mystical characters walking around Earth.

2. The Originals

What started off as an appearance on The Vampire Diaries, the original vampire family quickly became a fan favorite. This resulted in a spin-off called ‘The Originals’ which focused on the family and provided an insight into their life. The show follows how the original family moves back to New Orleans, a town they helped construct, their journey of settling down, and while doing so the problems they face.

It also highlights their run-ins with old enemies and friends. In addition, this 5 seasons-long show also emphasizes on how the family deals with new enemies that they encounter over time.

Even though The Originals started their journey through another show, they managed to grab more attention from the audience in this spin-off. This led to The Originals being ranked higher than The Vampire Diaries. The show consists of an ensemble cast of some of the most brilliant actors like Joseph Morgan, Claire Holt, and Daniel Gillies.

The entire cast individually also gained a fanbase especially Joseph Morgan by playing the character of Klaus Mikaelson. Klaus is your typical bad boy with a soft heart that manages to justify his actions with his charismatic personality. Overall the Originals is the better vampire show comparatively (at least according to the TV ratings). And it’s on our list of top 5 fantasy based tv shows of all time.
