The Society Season 2 Possible Release Date if Renewed

Ever since The Society graced our screens on May 10th, we are left lingering with the questions about the teen show. So much has happened in just one season. The high schoolers, after being stranded on their town of West Ham or a replica of it, are still trying to figure out what happened to them. But the most pressing matter is regarding how they will survive on their own without adults and limited resources. Since, they’re closed off from the rest of the world, their resources won’t last them forever. We have so many questions but the one that is in all of our minds is when will The Society season 2 come.

The Society Season 2 Renewed or Not?

Netflix waits out a couple of weeks to see what the response has been like from the public in order to know whether they should renew a TV show or not. That is something that ultimately led to the cancellation of One Day At a Time; much to fans despair. Though, shows that primarily focus on teenagers usually fare well. They usually get a good response and hence a quick renewal, Sex Education is one such example.

But, unfortunately, no. Netflix has not renewed The Society. Not yet, anyway. We will probably hear about that very soon though.

The Society Season 2 Release Date, If Renewed

Assuming The Society gets a renewal, we can make some speculations on its release date. It just takes a bit of digging around. But Thank God for IMDb, because otherwise it would take us a lot longer. So, IMDb states that the filming started around July 2018.

The Society premiered on 10th May 2019. So, it took the cast and crew about eleven months into producing the whole show. Now, considering that The Society gets a second season, which is highly likely, the news will most likely come around after a month or so.

We are not sure if the show runner Christopher Keyser and the writers Qui Ngyuen, Anna Fishko, Rachel Sydney Alter, Maile Meloy, Emily Bensinger, Keyser himself have anything planned for season 2. Of course, they would have a general idea on where they want to take the show after season 1’s ending.  But they would have to work more on the script for The Society season 2. That would take about a month or two more.

Once everything is finalized, they would start shooting The Society season 2. That could be sometime in July 2019 or even August 2019.

So, by these rough calculations we can expect The Society Season 2 release date to lie somewhere between May 2020 or June 2020.

Who Will be in the Cast

The story took an even darker turn in the finale of season 1. We see that Allie (Kathryn Newton) and Will (Jacques Colimon) were arrested on false grounds just so that could Campbell (Toby Wallace) could take power. Of course, Lexie (Grace Victoria Cox) and Harry (Alex Fitzalan) are working with Campbell (Toby Wallace) in this sudden coup of their town in West Ham.

But, Kelly (Kristine Froseth) and Gordie (Jose Julian) are still on Allie’s side and will endeavor to bring the power back to them. Plus, Grizz (Jack Mulhern) won’t easily accept this sudden change either since he always sided with Allie. On a side note, we’ll get to see the romance blossom even further with Grizz and Sam.

Sam (Sean Berdy) would have to manage raising a child with Becca (Gideon Adlon) alongside it though. Apart from parenting, these two characters will also support Allie and Will and try to bring them back. Helena (Natasha Lio Bordizzo) also seems like she’ll turn around and help Allie and Will.

We also saw The Guard turn their backs on Allie, so we’re curious to see what happens to them. The Guard currently consists of Luke (Alex MacNicoll), Clark (Spencer House), Jason (Emilio Garcia-Sanchez). Grizz was a member too but we’re assuming he would exit it now that the coup has happened.

These cast members would definitely come back as the main story revolves around them. Apart from them, we will also probably see Elle (Olivia DeJonge), Campbell’s reluctant girlfriend on the show. Bean (Salena Qureshi) and Gwen (Olivia Nikkanen) will also probably return.
