Interview With The Vampire Season 1

Interview With The Vampire Renewed by AMC

According to Dan McDermott, the president of original programming for AMC Networks and AMC studios, the team behind the Vampire tv show has done an exceptional job of bringing Anne Rice‘s world to life. From the stunning set builds to the detailed production design and costumes, no element was overlooked. The cast has also received high praise for their powerful performances that draw us in emotionally.

McDermott is thrilled to share the show with audiences and hints at the exciting universe of characters and stories yet to come. Showrunner Rolin Jones expressed his excitement to explore even more locations, including Bulgaria, Romania, and Paris, in the upcoming season. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for our favorite vampires!

Interview With The Vampire Season 2 Plot

As the first season of AMC‘s Interview With the Vampire came to a close, we saw Louis and Claudia leave for Paris after killing Lestat. Showrunner Rolin Jones revealed that season two would complete Anne Rice’s novel, but they will also incorporate some of the storylines from the later books. Jacob Anderson didn’t give away much about Louis and Claudia‘s destination, but he did confirm that Lestat will make a return in the upcoming season. In season three, there may even be a chance for Lestat to share his perspective with the audience. Although we can expect to see Lestat back on our screens, it remains to be seen what fate awaits Louis and Claudia.

The most shocking moment of the season finale isn’t Lestat‘s betrayal, but the reveal that Louis‘ assistant Rashid is actually Armand, a well-known and ancient vampire from Rice‘s novels. Even fans of the books were surprised to see Louis introduce Armand as “the love of my life.” But showrunner Mark Johnson has promised that this story will be explored further in future seasons. With Louis now in a complicated relationship with Armand, and Lestat still on the hunt, trouble is certainly on the horizon.

Assad Zaman, who portrays Armand, discussed the character’s complicated relationship with Lestat, hinting at the arrival of the Théâtre des Vampires in Season Two. This pivotal location in Rice’s Vampire Chronicles is where Lestat‘s story really takes shape, and where he first meets Armand. In the Vampire Literature books, Louis and Claudia stumble across the theater, setting off a chain of events that includes the formation of a bond between Louis and Armand, the death of Claudia, and the burning of the theater. Zaman‘s tease of the theater is a tantalizing hint of the drama that’s yet to come.

New Characters In IWTV Season 2

Season Two of AMC’s adaptation of Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles is set to introduce new characters, as confirmed by producer Adam O’Byrne in an interview with The Toronto Star. Two canonical characters will be making their debut in the upcoming season, one of which is Santiago, a powerful member of the Théâtre des Vampires and a fierce adversary to Louis. O’Byrne described Santiago as “a bit of a malefactor”.

The other new character is Madeleine, who serves as Claudia‘s adoptive mother figure. O’Byrne teased that their relationship will be complex, much like in the book, and promised that they have some great storylines in store for Madeleine that will make her an even more compelling character given the time period they are exploring. It will be interesting to see how these new additions fit into the story and what kind of impact they will have on our beloved characters.

Interview With The Vampire Season’s Broader Series

In 2020, AMC acquired the rights to not only Interview With The Vampire but also to the broader series, The Vampire Chronicles, and The Lives of the Mayfair Witches. With eighteen books between the two series, there’s plenty of material for AMC to work with. And now that Mayfair Witches is on the network, the Anne Rice Multiverse has grown even bigger. Rice herself had expressed her desire to see the two series brought together, and now it’s a reality. She stated, “Filmmakers could explore the expansive and interconnected universe of my vampires and witches,” making this deal one of the most exciting of her long career.

The recent acquisition of the rights to both The Vampire Chronicles and The Lives of the Mayfair Witches by AMC has led to speculation that a crossover between the two series may be in the works. At a Critics Association presentation, producer Esta Spalding teased that one character will appear in both shows, but she did not reveal who it is. Meanwhile, producer Mark Johnson acknowledged that linking the two series together is a real challenge, and it has to be done carefully to avoid feeling forced.

He hinted that the two shows are primarily linked by the city of New Orleans, which is a central setting for both series and by the possibility of introducing a character that can appear in both shows. The goal is to create a connection that feels organic and not contrived.

The possibilities for a crossover between Interview With the Vampire and Mayfair Witches are becoming more likely. The producers have hinted at a connecting character who will appear in both series, with Mark Johnson saying that “even characters we associate with one world could all of a sudden appear in another.” While it’s unclear if Louis will appear in Mayfair Witches, there are already hints at the connections between the two shows, such as Louis‘ brother Paul‘s joke about the Mayfair sisters in Episode One of Interview.

The Order of the Talamasca, a secret society from the Vampire Chronicles, is also set to play a role in Mayfair Witches, serving as a bridge between the two shows. The Talamasca’s story will expand in the show, offering more opportunities for connections and overlaps with the worlds being built in both series.

The Anne Rice Multiverse is expanding rapidly, leaving us with endless possibilities to look forward to. AMC‘s executive Dan McDermott disclosed in June 2022 that there are more “unofficial projects” in the works. McDermott told Variety that “five or six series in that universe” are planned for the next five to six years. Additionally, the plan includes an “all-star” original series that would merge supporting characters and maybe even lead characters from two or more shows.

The show’s premise is similar to the Avengers movies, bringing together characters from various shows to tell an original story that honors their respective backstories and mythologies. The excitement is palpable as we wonder where the crossover will take place. Could we see Lestat and Rowan Mayfair joining forces in a fight against evil? The possibilities are endless!
