Acclaimed director Sam Mendes is ready to roll out his ambitious war film, 1917, starring Dean-Charles Chapman, George MacKay, Benedict Cumberbatch, Richard Madden, Mark Strong, and Collin Firth this December.  The American Beauty director has partnered with several recurring collaborators to develop the star-studded film, which has only recently revealed its set photos. 1917 will also mark the Mendes’ screen-writing debut on the big-screen; Mendes has joined. hands with Scottish screen-writer Krysty Wilson-Cairns to churn out the screenplay for his upcoming movie. Where Is 1917 Being Shot?

Universal Pictures has opted for exotic locations in Scotland and England to film 1917. Wiltshire, Hankley Common; Govan, Scotland; and Shepperton Studios are all primary shooting locations for the film. In fact, the first set photos to surface from the movie also included the Govan Graving Docks. Mendes is leaving no stone unturned to make his upcoming 1917 movie feel as realistic as it can. He has even selected ruins and abandoned buildings around his studios for efficient replication of the damage done during the WWI. Before the film went on floors, Mendes has planned to shoot at the Salisbury Plains. But the Wiltshire Council voiced its apprehensions about Mendes’ ambitions as it feared that the shooting would cause significant damage to the precious ruins on the site. Sam Mendes And Stephen Spielberg For The Upcoming 1917 War Movie

1917 has called upon Sam Mendes to collaborate with ace film-producer Stephen Spielberg and his Dreamworks Productions. Spielberg and Mendes had earlier worked together on American Princess. Later Mendes helmed the movie Road To Perdition and Revolutionary Road, each which was produced by Spielberg. The director will also produce alongside his Neal Street Productions partner Pippa Harris and Jayne-Ann Tenggren and Callum McDougall, with Michael Lerman co-producing.
