For Millennials. By Millennials.
It seems that Netflix is on a mission to release shows best suitable for quarantine. First it was Tiger King, now, it’s Too Hot to Handle. While the premises of the show is like any dating reality show, there is a twist here – sex is forbidden.

If you put all the hot and horny people on a gorgeous island, what could go wrong?
While people are under lock down, Netflix decided to release another controversial yet entertaining show. The premise is simple, ten ridiculously good-looking people on an island which seems like paradise on Earth. Not only that, the show is diverse with people from UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland and Florida. Although Too Hot to Handle seems like another dating show, there is an interesting twist. Not only is sex forbidden, no one is allowed to kiss. On top of that, the rules are made by a robot called Lana which is a lot like Alexa or Siri. Only Lana can decide when and how much physical contact can be made. While it is torture for the horny people who just want to get it on, there is a very good reason behind it.

Not only is it a dating show, Too Hot to Handle is a show about personal growth.
According to the premise of Too Hot to Handle, no physical contact other than hugs and cuddles is to be made. When you put horny, good-looking people on an island, they think it their birth right to bang. However, when it is forbidden, it becomes more desired. All the people on the show expressed how they had never had any issues with getting sex. The boys gloated on the fact that women could not resist their six pack abs. On the other hand, girls felt pride that they were the queens of every boy’s heart.

But the purpose of the show was to take these people on a journey of self-discovery, teach them self-control and grow as a human being. They also wanted them to develop strong emotional bonds instead of just focusing on shallow physical relations. When sex was taken out of the mix, the contestants were able to see the other person in a different light. However, the show is not limited to only making bonds with the opposite gender. The boys became close and many bromances like David and Sharron, were formed. Meanwhile, Chloe and Nicole are sisters for life.

Although there are many dating shows out there, Too Hot to Handle is a first of its kind. While not many people were able to find their significant other, they sure did find themselves. We need more shows about personal growth.
