So, things are heating up between two massive YouTubers – PewDiePie and Dhar Mann. The two have been at each other for quite some time, making videos on each other with acrimony ripe in the air. So, what exactly happened between the two YouTubers? Here’s what we know.
Who is Dhar Mann?
For those who do not know, Dhar Mann is an extremely popular YouTuber with over 10 million subscribers. He’s also quite popular on other platforms like TikTok and Instagram as well. Most of the content that Dhar posts feature actors who play out stories of people facing hardships, with the pessimist always being taught a lesson. Many times, people have criticized Dhar’s content for being extremely cringing, with bad acting and storylines. And PewDiePie recently joined those critics as well.
In a video, Felix reacted to one of Dhar’s video that he made with FaZe Rug about a child who is shy and gets ridiculed in school.
Dhar Mann responds to PewDiePie’s comments
In response, Dhar Mann did not take PewDiePie’s words lightly, as he then uploaded another video about his actors getting negative comments from people. In the video, Dhar then comforts the actor, telling him that PewDiePie made a video criticizing him as well, saying:
I assume you know who PewDiePie is? He pretty much just made a video blasting me, check this out.
Dhar then proceeds to show PewDiePie’s clips stitched together from his video on Dhar to the actor, with Felix saying:
I already hate it. Dhar Mann Fam? It doesn’t make any sense. I didn’t think it would annoy me so much. ‘Keep changing lives,’ how? Dumb, I hate it.
Afterward, Dhar tells the actor that the way he deals with hate is by “focusing on the people that love me, not the ones that hate me”. Dhar’s video is now close to 10 million views on YouTube, and the comments are mixed, at the very least. Some were siding with Dhar, meanwhile, others said PewDiePie was merely joking in his video.
PewDiePie doubles down on Dhar
This video did not evade Felix’s eyes either, who backed his criticism and doubled down on it in another video. He again called Dhar’s videos cringe, further saying that Dhar was taking PewDiePie’s videos “out of context”. On June 16th, in PewDiePie’s Last Week I Asked You segment, fans drew his attention to the viral ACTOR QUITS while on set video. Felix did have quite a laugh while watching the video, but he responded with:
Way to cut out all the context… It was just for fun. Listen it was a bad video. I stand by that opinion.
Felix further argued that even if a video has good intensions behind it, it can still be bad. PewDiePie defended his video from April and his criticism with:
Even if you try to do a positive message, which is great, it was delivered so poorly. There’s no way you could understand it. And if anything, it just misconstrued [the message]… I don’t think just because you are trying to do something good, that you are above criticism.
Lastly, Felix seemed disappointed at Dhar Mann’s reaction, but had nothing against Dhar Mann, concluding:
It seemed like Dhar Mann took it in stride until I saw this. So I don’t know. I don’t care… Just know I have no actual ill will towards him. Not trying to cause tea here. He’s doing his thing, I’m doing my thing.
