Sam Heughan & Caitriona Balfe Bid Duncan Lacroix A Teary Goodbye

Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are mourning the death of Duncan Lacroix ‘s Murtagh Fraser. Outlander’s lead characters took to twitter to applaud Lacroix’s performance while bidding him goodbye from the series. Both actors considered working with Duncan for six long years – a true honor.

Starz fans were certainly upset last weekend, as, one of their favorite character from Outlander season 5 has departed from the series. Outlander Season 5, Episode 7, “The Ballad of Roger Mac” is pretty sensitive. The fans favorite, Murtagh Fitzgibbons (played by Duncan Lacroix) sacrificed his life amid a battle to save Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan).

How Duncan Lacroix Departed The Series

During the battle of Alamance, Murtagh saved Jamie by receiving the fire on himself instead of Heughan. Murtagh, in fact, was shot dead by the Red Coats. In an instance, Jamie holds his godfather and took him to Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) where Murtagh took his last breath. The creators, took three more seasons to show Murtagh’s death. Murtagh’s character, however, died in the second season as per the events of the books. In Outlander novels, Murtagh died during the Battle Culloden, held at the end of the second season.

Caitriona Balfe And Sam Heughan Mourn At The Shocking Death

Whatever be the plot, both Outlander’s icons, Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan mourn at the character’s death gravely and send praising notes to Duncan Lacroix appreciating his dedication to work as well as his compatibility with costars.

Balfe, the Claire Fraser of the time-traveling Outlander reached her social media accounts to showcase her grief on the shocking death of Murtagh played by Duncan Lacroix. Interestingly, some of the outlander’s fans want their favorite character back in ghostly attire.

Jamie and Claire are now actually mature husband and wife, now dealing with the nuisance of the Revolutionary War.

Duncan Lacroix Is Thankful For Such Appreciation

Duncan Lacroix played Murtagh for six years and the actor posted a thankful note on his digital account.

“My time on Outlander has been magical and I’ll miss mixing it up with the cast and crew. A truly heartfelt thank you for all the messages about the Ep. And for taking the old coot into your hearts. It’s no cliche to say that you fans make it so special. RIP Murtagh.”

Outlander, as we all know, is a time-based television series adapted from the novel series of the same name by Diana Gabaldon. Caitriona Balfe played Claire Randall, a married World War II nurse who in 1946 accidentally reached Scotland in 1743. There she met Highland warrior Jamie Fraser played by Sam Heughan. Both of them then encountered the Jacobite risings.
