In order to combat the COVID-19 coronavirus (SARS-CoV 2) pandemic, people are staying home and distancing themselves socially. Similarly, Natalie Portman and Emma Watson share their reasons for staying at home.
Where many celebrities are trying to keep the fun going and entertaining their fans, Kevin Bacon started a trend on Instagram. In order to encourage everyone to stay home and follow the government’s instructions, he started the #IStayHomeFor challenge. In an Instagram video, he said:
“Right now, like people around the world, I’m staying home because it saves lives and it is the only way we’re going to slow down the spread of this coronavirus. Because the contact that you make with someone who makes contact with someone else, that may be what makes somebody’s mom or grandpa or wife sick. Every one of us has someone who is worth staying home for. And I am staying home for Kyra Sedgewick.”
After he tagged Jimmy Fallon, Elton John, David Beckham, and Kevin Hart, the challenge kicked off and everyone took part.
After Kerry Washington tagged her in #IStayHomeFor challenge, Natalie Portman shared why and for whom she is choosing to stay at home. In an Instagram post, Natalie Portman wrote:
Some of my friends are immuno-compromised, pregnant, and particularly vulnerable. I’m staying at home for them and for the millions of healthcare professionals risking their lives every day for us.
Furthermore, Natalie Portman asked her fans who are they staying home for. In order to keep the challenge going, Portman tagged Rashida Jones, America Ferrera, and Lily-Rose Depp.
After Natalie Portman, Emma Watson also took part in the challenge and shared some tips to spend time. In her Instagram post, she wrote:
My grandma is over 70, so particularly vulnerable… My Mum is a type 1 diabetic and my best friend is a health care professional. #Istayhomefor them. Who are you staying home for? Sending love. E xxx
Furthermore, she shared some tips to show up for the community which was originally posted by Michelle Obama. According to these, one can help donate to food banks, buy a gift certificate for people in need, offer to give lessons or read a story to your friends’ kids. But the most important thing is to be gentle with yourself.
