Imagine Dragons’ Birds | Official Animated Video Is Out Now

Imagine Dragons is an American pop band who got famous after their tracks It’s Time and Radioactive. They released their 4th Album Origins last year. One of the tracks titled Birds was released a month ago. Song features Elisa, an Italian singer, who has added to the beauty of the song with her vocals. The audio version was available on YouTube since 19th June. However, Imagine Dragons just dropped the official animated video of Birds today and it has us in tears.

Imagine Dragons’ Birds animated video can also be categorized as a short film. It has a complete story of a mother-daughter duo explained within 3 minutes 38 seconds. The video shows a small girl being loved and groomed by her mother. She teaches her daughter to accept her Bird-appearance and how to fly.

However, at school, the daughter cannot come out as a bird and she keeps her identity hidden. She wants to play with other girls. However, she accidentally trips over and reveals her Bird identity. Students start making fun of her and they bully her for being a bird. No one likes sitting with her at all. She comes back home crying and her mother takes her out for a flight to release her daughter’s stress.

Story Takes a Heartbreaking Turn

But, the daughter does not fly this time. She starts hating her Bird identity as her schoolmates laughed at her because of feathers and wings. Growing up, she is still left alone at the school and has no friends. She is also shown pulling feathers out of her face in hatred. Her school mates label her as a freak and depression hits her hard. In her struggle of escaping the reality, she loses her mother in an accident when her mother sacrifices her life in order to save her.

Imagine Dragons’ Birds has emotional & meaningful lyrics. And the amazing visuals make it a complete package. The video shows how people mock something or someone which they do not understand. The soulful animation proves how intellectuals and geniuses are looked down upon by others. Until they prove their worth and everyone starts to bow down in front of them.

It also tells you that we often forget to realize what things should be given more of our attention and what shouldn’t. Just because you’re something different, doesn’t mean you should be excluded from society.

The songs leaves a message for everyone to understand others with an open heart and to not mock them. The theme behind the song and visuals can be turned into a full anime series or a movie.
