Why Did Twilight Saga’s Taylor Lautner Vanish?

Twilight series’ stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart became household names after the immense success of the series. Taylor Lautner aka Jacob Black, however, kind of disappeared afterward. So what happened to him and why we haven’t seen him on-screen lately?

When the then-teenager got the role of the now-iconic Twilight series, he would’ve never imagined how life-changing it would be. Taylor Lautner rose to almost over-night fame as Jacob along with Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. The release of Twilight: New Moon proved to be even more successful. So much so, the director Chris Weitz admitted that Lautner was one of the major reasons behind the Twilight’s success.

It took him just a few years to become one of the most recognizable faces on the planet and also one of the highest-paid Hollywood actors. Taylor Lautner also worked with You Need to Calm Down singer Taylor Swift in the star-studded romantic comedy Valentine’s Day. Miss Americana‘s Taylor Swift and Taylor shared good chemistry in the film. Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift’s on-screen relationship turned into a real-life relationship as well. Looks like his place was secured in Hollywood or was it?

Taylor Lautner’s Downfall

According to sources, Bella, Edward, and Jacob earned a whopping $25 million from 7.5% of the profits from two-part Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn. It added up to $41 million in total and making the three one of the highest-paid actors of all time. This even exceeds the main cast of the Harry Potter series.

The high price tag was also the beginning of the end of his acting career. After the series, Taylor Lautner was also supposed to battle alongside Dwayne Johnson in Galioth but the movie’s production got shelved.

Rumor has it that one reason why Galioth didn’t see the light of the day was the young actor’s fee. He demanded almost $10 million for the project but the filmmakers thought the price was too high compared to his acting skills.

He also tried to jump into the world of comedy and landed a small role in the Grown-Ups film. However, that path didn’t work out for him either. He secured some roles in shows like ‘Scream Queens’ and ‘Cuckoo’. This was back in 2018. We didn’t really see him in any significant movie or TV show afterward.
