The Vampire Diaries was iconic! The hot vampires and werewolves, the crafty witches, travelers, Sybil, it was all such an adventure! The Vampire Diaries’ main cast put so much of their efforts into making the show come to life. The Gilberts, Salvatores, Forbes, Lockwoods, Bennets, and Matt Donovan gave us quite the run. The show ended in 2017 but fans are still sticking to their favorite stars. We bring you an update on what the main cast like Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, and Paul Wesley is up to now!
After spending 6 years torn between the hunky vampire Salvatore brothers, Nina parted ways with Vampire Diaries. She appeared in the series finale for her happy ending with Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder). Since then, the girl has definitely explored. She’s appeared in Flatliners, XXX: Return of Xander Cage, and many more movies and projects, Most recently, she’s worked in the movie Lucky Day and appeared in the family sitcom ‘Fam’. As of 2020, Dobrev has yet to announce any official projects but she seems to be enjoying her time with friends and loved ones.

Ian is probably the most loved character in the Vampire Diaries. Damon Salvatore is hot, smug, witty, and very impulsive. Ian himself, couldn’t be further from his character. He is running his own organization for the better of the world, Ian Somerhalder Foundation. Ian is working with his TVD brother, Stephan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) on their own brand of bourbon. Most recently, he starred in the Netflix show V Wars and is spending all of his time trying to promote his show into a season 2. Although, shocker: Ian left his role of Vampire to be a human for a change!
He also won the Screen Actors Guild Award for his 2005 show, Lost.
Stephan finding peace was a tearful moment for TVD fans all over the world. Paul Wesley has appeared in some tv shows since the end of the vampire series. His most recent project, CBS All Access show, Tell Me A Story is available for streaming online. Paul also leaned toward directing an episode of the Vampire Diaries Spin-off, Legacies. His bourbon with Ian Somerhalder is expected to be out soon.
He ended his relationship with co-star Pheobe J Tonkin (Hayley Marshall of the Vampire Diaries) and married Ines De Ramon in February 2019. Near the end of 2019, he spent the weekend with his wife for a birthday weekend getaway.
The ever-controlled Caroline was the only member of the inner-circle that was still a vampire at the end of the show. Her life as a mom to Lizzie and Josie was adorable. Her real-life daughter and herself aren’t any less of cuties. Candice’s Daughter, Florence May is often featured in her Instagram Stories.
She has her podcast with a fellow recurring star on the show, Kayla Ewell (Vicki Donovan) called Directionally Challenged.
Bonnie has a rough time being a Bennet witch on the show. Always sacrificing, dying, coming back, going away, and so on. Kat Graham is featured in different movies and shows right now. The Emperor Movie and Cut Throat City are expected to be out soon. She is also featured in The Rise of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Poison Rose. Kat also campaigned for Dior, featured in Vogue, and is a brand ambassador for L’Oreal. More Power To You, Girlie!
The only cast member to remain human throughout the series (except the time he was possessed by a Traveler) Matt Donovan survived through hell and back on the show. He has an 8-year-old daughter and his most recent project is Dare Me on USA Network. He has also appeared in the vampire diaries spin-off Legacies.
Jeremy lost everything on the show. Now it seems that Steven R. His upcoming project is ‘The Warrant’ that will come this year. He has been MIA from social media for quite a while. Although, we do hope that he is okay!
Damon’s best friend and drinking buddy seemed to not want to let go of the series when it ended. He is now starring in the spin-off Legacies as the principal of the Salvatore School. His daughter Lizzie and Josie study there along with the daughter of Klaus Mikelson and Hayley Marshall, Hope Mikelson.
Tyler deserved a low-key life after all the downs and ups in the show. Micheal Trevino has been doing so himself. According to his latest Instagram post, he plans to spend a lot of his time in New York.
He also appeared in the show ‘Roswell, New Mexico’.
Other cat members like Chris Wood (Kai Parker) and Jodi Lyn O’Keefe (Josette Laughlin) has appeared in the spin-off Legacies. We do miss the show. But it is so nice to see the cast move on and grow and keep us updated on their ever-changing lives.
