Shawn Mendes 'Wonder' Song Review

Shawn Mendes ‘Wonder’ Song Review

Shawn Mendes released his new single, “Wonder,” the title track from his upcoming album via Island Records, on 2nd October and has left us yearning for more. Shawn co-produced and co-wrote his comeback single together with Scott Harris, Nate Mercereau, and Kid Harpoon.

The song, Wonder, could be best described as a climactic, anthemic, and a dynamic modern song. But no matter how many adjectives we use. We still cannot put into words all the feelings we felt listening to the song. As always, Shawn’s vocal work is heartfelt and delicate as he sings about wondering how to express his true self and his emotions (which we can totally relate to about the song). He questions himself:

“I wonder, when I cry into my hands, I’m conditioned to feel like it makes me less of a man”.

Having a hopeful, almost euphoric quality to it, the lyrics of self-discovery all come together in a belting chorus. We are pretty sure this song will further cement his position as one of the major pop stars of the world as this is the perfect introduction to a new chapter in both the career and life of Shawn Mendes.

Wonder’s music video

The video for the song was certainly the most “pop” one that Shawn has released. It was an exciting and slightly clichéd but lovable video to watch as there were dancers, a cliff, and other aspects that made it more sensational.

Watching a train similar to the Hogwarts Express. And a forest similar to the one Ron, Hermione, and Harry fled from death eaters in. Though the video was no surprise at all, as Shawn has always talked about his love for Harry Potter in countless interviews. Clearly, it was Shawn in a land of wizards and witches.

It seemed as Shawn tried showing that he’s staying in touch with his roots and keeping the things that inspired him as a child. No matter how successful he becomes. Hence, ‘Wonder’ seems like an invitation to Shawn’s brain.

“Wonder” has set the base for what is hopefully going to be a new and exciting album.
