In 2007, Sara Sampaio won a Portuguese hair modeling contest called Cabelos Pantene. But her chance to work in a commercial came after she joined the University of Lisbon. Despite dreaming to be Victoria’s Secret Angel, Sara Sampaio failed her first audition. However, she joined Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in 2013. In 2015, she walked for the brand as an Angel for the first time. After that, she became a permanent part of Victoria’s Secret.
However, her modeling career goes beyond that. Sampaio had worked for countless brands, featured on numerous magazines, and walked for multiple designers. Her achievements include television ads fro Axe, being on the cover of Vogue and GQ Portuguese, and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition. Among a long list of designers, for whom she has walked in many fashion shows, including Elie Saab, Miu Miu, Tory Burch, Marc Jacobs, Jeremy Scott, and Dolce & Gabbana.
While being in lockdown due to COVID-19, Sara Sampaio has been sharing her experience of quarantine with her fans on social media. During one of her Instagram Live sessions, she shared the advantage of weight gain and said:
”Do you know one thing they don’t tell you about gaining weight? It’s that your boobs get bigger. So I’m just trying to understand – what do I want more abs or boobs?”
Previously, Sara Sampaio talked about managing her mental health in this situation and said:
”I actually deal with anxiety and depression on a regular basis, so I’ve got to be honest, the first few weeks I was the least anxious I’ve ever been but the past few weeks I’ve been a little bit more down and anxious.”
During her teenage years, she developed trichotillomania, a disorder where you have the urge to pull your own hair. While talking about it, Sara Sampaio said:
”I haven’t cured mine, I’ve had it since I was 15 and I still do it. There are times when I pick more than others. There were a couple of weeks in quarantine when I was just ripping them off. However, I find that when my nails are short I don’t tend to pick as much and that helps them grow back so I’ve been trying to keep them short during quarantine.”
