If you are also watching Netflix’s After Life, then perhaps the thought must have crossed your mind as well. The show’s audience is convinced that the creator Ricky Gervais is trying to restart his feud with James Corden. The second season of the comedy dropped on Netflix this weekend and a character, James, has become a subject of fan theories. People suggest that he might be a representation of The Late Late Show host Corden.
Did Ricky Gervais Make A Character On James Corden?
James is a character in the show, who later soils himself during his gala performance. It is the striking resemblance to the actual James Corden that fans think Ricky Gervais pulled a secret punch. According to the Fraser Coast Chronicle, fans were the first to notice this and started to comment about it. One mentioned, “James from After Life is James Corden 2.0”. Whereas, another tagged Gervais to ask him if the character James is based on Corden. Here is what another viewer said:
“Just finished binge watching S2 of After Life. Another total gem of a show. How did Ricky Gervais get James Corden to play the odd lad who does the dance to ‘send in the clowns’ and sh*ts himself on stage. I didn’t think Ricky liked Corden, I’m with him on that one.”
In the past, tensions between Ricky Gervais and James Corden began when the former slammed the latter’s attempt to emulate his hosting style at awards. He then went on to take digs at his career choices. James Corden sparked the events by imitating Gervais in Horne and Corden. A Hollywood source also mentioned to FCC that the two were pitted against each other during their early career days. They were the ones who were trying to make it to Hollywood – two up and coming British stars.
