For Millennials. By Millennials.
Another young actor, Rick Cosnett, becomes a part of the ever-growing list of celebrities coming out as gay. Hugh Grant’s cousin posted a heartfelt video on Instagram this week confirming his sexual orientation.
Rick Cosnett, known to fans as Eddie Thawne on “The Flash,” Wes Maxfield in “The Vampire Diaries, and Elias Harper in “Quantico, came out as gay on Thursday on his Instagram video in a very to the point video clip. He said:
Hi everyone, {Dramatic pause}. Um, I’m gay and I just wanted everyone to know because I’ve made a promise to myself to live my truth every day and sometimes that is a really hard thing to do when you have all these subconscious things that you don’t even know about from childhood and society and from just life. There you go. I’m sure most of you probably knew anyway. And … um yeah. That’s actually all I wanted to say. I also have a stye on my eye which really adds to the drama of the whole thing.”
Who is Rick Cosnett?
The thirty-six-year-old was born in Zimbabwe. His parents loved theatre and he was raised on a farm in Chegutu. Because of his parents’ involvement in acting and theatre art, Cosnett found his love in acting too. At seventeen, the family moved to Australia, where he studied at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, eventually receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting. He started off his acting career with roles on Australian television until he was given the role of Vampire Diaries in 2013.
The actor added on and said:
“It feels good and confusing.”
Rick Cosnett received a lot of positive support from his fans in general. And many commented on his video expressing love and support for the young, Australian actor.
