A British-born ethnically white person, Oli London has often stirred a lot of controversy over the internet. Back in 2018, they admitted to spending thousands of dollars to look like K-pop idol Jimin from BTS. But this time, it looks like Oli has taken their behavior to an extreme level. And that caught the eyes of PewDiePie. Oli revealed in pride month that they now identify as Korean, after making their facial features look more stereotypically Korean, thanks to plastic surgery. Moreover, Korean creators and influencers have also condemned Oli, saying it’s a form of appropriation. Oli made the revelation in their YouTube video.

PewDiePie was left speechless after watching Oli London’s video

After watching a few minutes of their video, Felix said:

I’m speechless, I don’t know what to say, it’s so bizarre. I believe that he’s doing it because he wants to, but you’re also letting everyone know. You cannot say you don’t like the attention at least. Which is fine, if you wanna do that, but I don’t buy that at all. There’s definitely both of these elements playing into each other.

In their video, Oli tried to defend their behavior by saying it’s the same as people trying to identify as aliens. Then, why should he be prohibited to identify as Korean? To that, PewDiePie responded:

You are appropriating another race. That’s not always a good look, I’m not gonna lie. You’re not taking away from aliens by identifying as them.

Lastly, PewDiePie made sure that his video is not misconstrued as hate for Oli. All he did was found the topic “interesting” and tried to ask more questions from the situation:

I’m totally fine with people doing surgery or if they’re not happy about an aspect of themselves, fine. But it also kind of opens up this question of you know, what are you ever going to be if you can always change a part of yourself.

That said, Oli London is not looking likely to take things easy. What do you think of their decision? Let us know in the comments below.
