The gallowglasses are, in fact, foreign warriors. They were a class of elite mercenary warriors who were principally members of the Norse-Gaelic clans of Scotland between the mid 13th century and late 16th century. A description of Gallowglasses from 1600, describes:

On the other hand, Starz Outlander postponed the release of its 5th season in 2019. The series will, perhaps, return in early 2020. Cree could be the reason behind this delay.

Along with Cree, a bunch of new additions has joined the season two, including Sheila Hancock, James Purefoy, and Paul Rhys.
In the Season 1 finale, Matthew (Matthew Goode) and Diana (Teresa Palmer) travel ahead of time to escape the Congregation. The first photo from the second season, however, revealed that the couple has destined the Elizabethan England.
