Legally Blonde 3 Is Releasing In May 2022

The release date for the third installment in the fantastically iconic trilogy, Legally Blonde 3, has just been announced. And we are brimming with anticipation!

The announcement for the movie’s 3rd part was made earlier this year. The movie will again feature Reese Witherspoon as the main lead and sorority-girl-turned-lawyer, Elle Woods.

However, it is not just Elle that will be returning from the main cast. But she will be joined by Jennifer Coolidge, Selma Blair, and Matthew Davis. Along with Jessica Cauffiel and Luke Wilson. More returning cast joining the third installation will be Ali Larter, Holland Taylor, and Alanna Ubach.

And now we know when the movie will hit the theatres. In a virtual cast reunion, the release date for the movie was set out to be May 20, 2022.

This means the release date is a full two years after the sequel was first announced. It was first stated by IMDB that pre-production will start in May 2020. However, with the pandemic delaying every production and new writers being added, the release date had to be postponed.

How Did Reese First Announce The Return Of Legally Blonde?

Reese Witherspoon was also the first person to announce Legally Blonde 3. She took to Instagram to post a video of her in the pool, Elle Woods style. Reese had on the iconic pink sequined bikini and was leisurely sunbathing on a pool float. “It’s true… #LegallyBlonde3,” she captioned the post.

However, the last we had seen Reese in the pink bikini was in 2016. She had it donned to celebrate 15 years of Legally Blonde on Instagram. So it was only fitting that she would bring it back to announce Legally Blonde 3.

Changes Made For Legally Blonde 3

Moreover, the only significant change made to the series was the addition of Mindy Kaling as the writer. Honestly, we could not be happier about this particular change. Mindy Kaling is an immensely talented writer and I cannot wait to see the power of Mindy and the iconic Elle coming back to our theatres.

Furthermore, Reese had also confirmed that the new film would be packed with feminist ideas. And we are all here for it.

Thankfully, that is the only major change made to the third movie. The original producers for the first two installations will be coming back for the third. And Luke Wilson revealed he was excited to do another Legally Blonde movie.

However, the last from the legally Blonde series was the second film. Which was 17 years ago. So you can bet fans of the movies are desperately waiting for the new installation.

And although knowing the release date helps, what does not is how far it is.
