There seems to be no end to feuding in the beauty community on YouTube. While Jeffree Star is usually the one in on sparking debates, this time the makeup mogul is simply resorting to choosing sides in the James Charles and Tati Westbrook brawl. The two former friends seemed to have reached a friendship hiatus after Westbrook uploaded a video announcing the end of ties. But even when Charles has apologized, the dramatic feud comes at a price for the 19-year-old YouTuber – loss of 1 million followers.
Probably what makes it even worse for Charles is not having his beauty pal Jeffree Star to support him. Contrary to our expectations, Star has thrown over some subtle shade at Charles. To put salt in the wounds, he has shown his support for Tati throughout all this.
James Charles and Tati Westbrook have maintained a close friendship ever since Charles made his debut on YouTube. In fact, Tati has been more of a mother figure to the young beauty guru. But despite the close bond, Charles may have done something that could count as a betrayal to Tati.
James participated in an advertisement for the supplement company Sugar Bear Hair Care, which is a rival to Tati’s Halo Beauty. But James refused to promote Halo Beauty products on his YouTube channel. This rift is one major reason that Tati highlighted in her 43-minute long video titled Bye Sister which announces the end of their friendship. Tati claimed that Charles was a little more than a 19-year-old millionaire who did not have to stress out about his business every morning. Further, she blamed him for disrespecting their friendship as just a transaction, lying to her, and embarrassing her. Tati exclaimed that,
Get off your high horse and have some respect. You don’t have any for the people who are in this industry and that’s the sad fact.
James Charles responded to Bye Sister by uploading his 8-minute-long apology on his channel. He apologized again and again, calling his former mentor an amazing person who wants the best for everyone around her. Charles concluded that he was disappointed in himself after hurting her.
The feud may have wrapped up between Tati Westbrook and James Charles. But the beauty community of YouTube and celebrities are still immersed in the scandal. Reports even claim that Charles lost 1 million followers including A-list influencers which include Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Demi Lovato, and Shawn Mendes. Other beauty YouTubers including Kylie Jenner and Jeffree Star may have sided with Tati as well.
Jeffree Star remains another celebrity YouTuber who unfollowed James Charles on social media. Considering that Star is the king of shades on social media, naturally, he is involved in the scandal. After Charles published his apology, Star made a cryptic tweet claiming that truth always tastes better than the lie.
Although there was no mention of Tati or James, followers were quick to assume it had something to do with their latest feud. Soon afterward, Shane Dawson who is filming his series on Jeffree Star uploaded an appreciation post for Tati Westbrook. Star responded with his love and expressed his gratitude for finding them in life.
Star made some other tweets claiming that he had a folder full of tweets he hasn’t posted yet. Immediately, fans started telling him to expose James Charles. But looks like Star knows better than jabbing direct insults. After Charles attended Met Gala 2019, Jeffree posted a picture of himself captioning it ‘CUNT GALA’.
So, by this time, probably everyone on the internet can sense Jeffree Star coming after James Charles in the Tati Westbrook drama!
