Jake Gyllenhaal further clarifies his stance on the whole “bathing” debate

Published by

Remember when Jake Gyllenhaal dropped a stink bomb and said he does not bathe anymore? Apparently, he was being sarcastic. Or was he? In an interview, he revealed that he does indeed bath and shower. It all began when Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis started the anti-bathing movement. One by one, A-listers like Kristen Bell, Dax Shepard, Brad Pitt, and Charlize Theron came in support of it. Needless to say, it shocked the world that our favorite stars have such poor hygiene habits.

Previously, Jake Gyllenhaal claimed that our body cleans itself

On the Armchair Expert podcast, Kutcher and Kunis talked about their kids. During the conversation, they revealed that their kids only get a bath when they’re properly dirty. Otherwise, there’s no point in cleaning them. This led to a massive debate on the necessity of bathing. While Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard agreed with them, The Rock admitted to showering three times a day. According to Bell:

“I’m a big fan of waiting for the stink. Once you catch a whiff, that’s biology’s way of letting you know you need to clean it.”

At the same time, a huge number of celebrities came forward in support of not bathing. Among them was Nightcrawler star, Jake Gyllenhaal. When asked about his views, he said:

“More and more I find bathing to be less necessary, at times. I do believe, because Elvis Costello is wonderful, that good manners and bad breath get you nowhere. So I do that. I think that there’s a whole world of not bathing that is also really helpful for skin maintenance, and we naturally clean ourselves.”

Needless to say, Jake Gyllenhaal made us all very upset. However, he was not the only non-bathing celebrity. Brad Pitt, Charlize Theron, Robert Pattinson, Zac Efron and Julia Roberts have questionable hygiene.

Recently, he backtracked on his previous statement and said he was being sarcastic

In a recent Q& A session for his upcoming film, The Guilty, Jake Gyllenhaal was again asked about his stance on bathing. While talking about it, he made fun of his previous statement and said:

“By the way I made an independent film, of course I don’t shower… of course we don’t have the money for showers. I think, by the way, anyone who’s used a trailer, has the shower ever really worked? They don’t work in trailers, the sinks barely do.”

At the same time, Jake Gyllenhaal made sure that everyone knows he was being sarcastic about not taking a bath. He said:

“I don’t know what it was. I answered a question where I was being ironic and sarcastic, and it’s been following me around. I showered before I came here.”

Since this new update, Jake Gyllenhaal fans have taken a sigh of relief. Hi new film, The Guilty will start streaming on Netflix on 24th September.
