Everything we know about Jordan Peele’s New Movie ‘Candyman’

Jordan Peele is a very famous American actor and comedian. He is best known for his comedy and horror work. Peele made a breakout in 2003 when he was cast for a role on the Fox sketch academy series Mad Tv. The filmmaker spent 5 seasons there and left in 2008. Jordan has directed many amazing and mind-blowing movies. One of them is Get Out. Everything about this movie is perfect. From storyline to cinematography, every little detail is absolutely on-point.

Jordan is married to the most talented woman Chelsea Peretti aka Gina Linetti. Chelsea has starred in the very popular TV Show, Brooklyn nine-nine, as Gina Linetti. She is also famous for her writing for Parks and Recreation and Saturday Live.

What Will Jordan Peele’s new film be about?

Candyman is an American supernatural film which is directed by Nia DaCosta and written by Jorden Peele. It is basically a sequel to the Candyman film series. The fourth film of the series is going to be released in 2021. The movie is based on the short story ‘The Forbidden’ by Clive Baker. Many great actors including Yahya Abdul-Mateen, Teyonah Parris, Nathan Stewart-Jarett, Colman Domingo, and Tonny Todd will be starring in the upcoming movie. The movie was supposed to come out in June 2020 but due to COVID-19, the release date got pushed 3 times and now it’s finally releasing in August 2021.

In September 2018, rumors started that Jordan Peele will be producing the movie but nothing was sure yet. But then in an interview with Nightmare on Film Street, Tonny Todd said:

I would rather have him do it. Someone with intelligence who is going to be thoughtful and dig into the whole racial makeup of who Candyman is and why he existed in the first place.

Jordan Peele was officially the producer of the movie in November 2018.

Yahya is playing the role of Anthony McCoy. He is an artist living in a green housing project as an infant. The housing project is haunted by an urban myth called Candyman some 28 years ago. Antony was kidnapped by the Candyman and he almost got killed by Candyman but Helen Lyle saved him.

We just can’t wait for the ‘Candyman’ to drop this August by the Universal Pictures. Though the movie has already been delayed a couple of times. So we can just hope and pray that it won’t be delaying any further.
