A piece of great news is here regarding some of the biggest names in the music industry. Coldplay, Metallica, and Billie Eilish are all set to perform for a day at fundraising concerts across five continents next year!
The recently announced Global Citizen Festival will see performances from the highest talents. This is in order to raise funds to tackle global poverty. CEO of Global Citizen, Hugh Evans, said:
“Our goal, to put it simply, is to engage every single person on the planet in this mission to end global poverty. To do so, we must boldly and creatively reach global citizens where they are: in person, on television, on their phones and online.”
The organization is popular for combatting greater issues like poverty, climate change, and inequality. This is among their latest initiative, called Global Goals for Sustainable Development. Apart from Coldplay, Metallica, and Billie Eilish, people are expecting a lot of other artists for the event as well.
The Sustainable Development Solutions Network, or SDSN, has estimated that 59 poorest nations need up to USD 350 billion per year. Global Citizen and the UN have called on several governments and philanthropists to step in and make a difference.
The event will culminate at the end of September 2020 and feature performances from several stars. This includes Miley Cyrus, Ozzy Osbourne, Coldplay, Alicia Keys, Billie Eilish, Red Hot Chillie Peppers, Metallica, and Shawn Mendes. The actual line up is a lot longer, and I have only picked out the ones that I am a fan of. I mean, there is a chance to listen to Chris Martin and even Metallica songs. A chance to listen to Bad Guy and Ocean Eyes by Billie Eilish live? Sign me up! And of course, we can’t forget the budding star, Shawn Mendes.
The Festival will take place for 10 hours in five continents. It will be broadcast live from diverse places like Nigeria, New York, and other places from Europe, Asia, and Latin America. The full event schedule is yet to be released and more artists will join later as well. For now, I suggest you keep a lookout for Metallica show tickets because that’s where you might find me.
The lineup for this year’s GC Festival concert is pretty great. One can only imagine how high would the ratings go, and how much funds would be gathered because of them
