Bojack Horseman, the only TV show that could make you relate to a narcissistic and alcoholic horse. Bojack was dealing with complex problems and yet the feelings he portrayed: depression, loneliness and anxiety are all something we all have felt at one point or another. We have already speculated on Bojack Horseman’s season 6 release date.
But it may be its final one given how the stories are moving forward for Will Arnett’s character Bojack and all the other characters.
What’s the key element that is needed in every TV show and movie to make it interesting? It has to have some sort of problem or issue to resolve. Bojack Horseman has given each of its character multiple problems that they address through out the course of the five seasons. Now, as we inch towards Bojack Horseman sixth season, there is no need for the characters to remain in peril.
Will Arnett’s Bojack is finally realizing the consequences of his reckless actions of alcoholism and drug addiction. In the fifth season, Bojack ends up in rehab through the support of her relentlessly loyal yet critical friend Diane Nguyen (Alison Brie). Bojack’s actions led to the death of his old co-star, almost the death of his new co-star and alienation from all his friends. He even had to endure the death of his distant and emotionally abusive mother. Over the course of the five seasons, Bojack has learned a lot about life as a result.
Meanwhile, other characters are finding a way to grow on their own as well. Diane, after marrying Mr. Peanutbutter, realizes their marriage just doesn’t work. She goes to Vietnam to get closer to her roots but that doesn’t fare well for her either. She’s left feeling hollow and empty as she is not satisfied in her career as well, even though she was a consultant on Bojack’s show Philbert. Diane was always the conscience of the show but was never in a position where she could feel empowered and satisfied. Things are gradually changing for her and its reaching its culminating point. There is also a chance that Diane and Bojack may end up together because Bojack always had a crush on her. Diane also realizes her attachment to him which doesn’t completely waver even when she’s angry at him.
Todd (voiced by Aaron Paul), on the other hand, finally comes to term with his own identity which is asexual. By finding others like him, he figures out to navigate through life, personally and professionally. Even though he ended up being the CEO of the company that was producing Philbert, it wasn’t exactly an ideal job for him. Todd’s crazy adventures certainly led to a lot of growth for him, which seemed to be nearing its end as well.
Mr. Peanutbutter (Paul F. Tomkins) is suddenly understanding how he can’t always remain as aloof and carefree as he usually was. After the divorce with Diane, he is struggling to find some peace in his life as well. Though, he still has some feelings left for his ex, he’s still trying to move forward. He even tried to run for Governor of California. He also ended up proposing to his girlfriend Pickles Aplenty despite the fact he cheated on her. Mr. Peanutbutter has a lot to resolve in his life but it can easily be done in Bojack Horseman season 6.
Princess Carolyn (Amy Sedaris), after being the multitasking workaholic agent, knew she wanted to have a kid. So, she finally adopts one on her own. For some reason, she chooses not to get back with her ex who she actually loved. We may see Princess Carolyn love being a mother or she may have even more difficulty juggling her professional life with her personal one.
All of these characters have gone through a lot and finally are reaching to a point where they know who they are. Slowly, they are coming to terms with their own respective flaws and finding out ways to resolve them. The leading protagonist is also making a big step in redeeming himself for good by going to rehab. It would make a fitting end if the sixth season is its last. We’ll miss the show for sure, but prolonging the show may make it lose its charm like we’ve seen on other shows like The Big Bang Theory or How I Met Your Mother.
Let’s see if Bojack Horseman season 6 is going to be the final one. We’ll definitely love seeing Will Arnett, Alison Brie, Aaron Paul, Paul F. Tomkins and Amy Sedaris voice an interesting animated group of ensemble.
