Henry Cavill receives backlash for dating Gina Carano

So, the internet recently recalled that Henry Cavill dated Gina Carano a while back. And for that reason, Cavill is getting some backlash from social media. And here’s the reason why.

Why Henry Cavill dating Gina Carano in the past is causing an uproar?

Now, according to the LA Times, Henry Cavill dated Gina Carano back in 2013 when Man of Steel came out. Now, usually, celebrity dating doesn’t become a point of contention, but with Carano’s recent controversies, things changed a bit.

Gina Carano’s firing from The Mandalorian happened because of her controversial social media posts, in which she compared modern-day Republicans to the persecution of Jews by the Nazis in the Holocaust. As a result, Disney let her go after Carano received backlash on social media. She had also been sharing controversial posts in the past about face masks, voter fraud, the COVID-19 vaccine, and other political issues.

And when social media found out that Henry Cavill dated her back in 2013, it sparked a lot of reactions. There were a few light-hearted memes, like:

Despite this outrage, there were some who spoke in defence of Henry Cavill and called out the wrongful application of cancel culture, saying it was going too far:

Now, Cavill didn’t get canceled and he hasn’t addressed the backlash as of yet. But, it looks unlikely that he will because the trend didn’t get enough traction on social media.
