For Millennials. By Millennials.
Channing Tatum, the dashing lead from Step up, has literally stepped up his game by adding movie direction to his already amazing resume. He has previously played important roles in several action movies including G.I. Joe Retaliation, 21 Jump street, 22 Jump street, Fighting, and The Eagle. He also warmed our hearts by appearing in blockbuster chick flicks like Dear John and The Vow. Channing Tatum is already a published author as well as a producer and just as we thought that he has done it all, he announced that he would be co-directing the upcoming comedy ‘Dog’.
Channing Tatum talks about directing the new movie ‘Dog’.
Tatum and his partner Reid Carolin, also the writer of the story, will direct the movie together. He is especially excited about this production as its story relates to his own life. Channing Tatum confirmed that the shoot for Dog has begun by sharing a BTS on his Instagram account saying;
It’s already been a crazy ride. And we’ve only just begun. If we survive the rest, it will be one of the most insane stories that I’ve ever been a part of. And I’ve been a part of some pretty crazy ones in this life of mine.
The movie is inspired by Tatum’s late dog. Its story revolves around an Army Ranger and his dog Lulu (same as Tatum’s late pet) and portrays their comic struggle to make it to a friend’s funeral, who also happens to be Lulu’s past handler. The story was written by Reid Carolin and Brett Rodriguez. The cast involves Tatum as the main lead. GM and Film Nation got the domestic and international licenses for airing the movie respectively in March this year. It is expected to hit the big screens in 2021 however, no dates have been confirmed so far. The movie in itself, Dog may go on to become one of Channing Tatum’s biggest projects to date!
We can imagine that having a direction debut during a pandemic will not be easy, but we also believe that Tatum can do it all. After all, he is the Magic Mike we all know and love. We wish him all the best!
