A new HBO miniseries is in the works that will be starring Winona Ryder from Stranger Things and Zoe Kazan. The Plot Against America is set in the time of Franklin D Roosevelt’s 1940 election, except that it has an alternate history.
Winona Ryder in The Plot Against America
The HBO miniseries, spreading over six episodes, is based on the famous novel by Philip Roth. According to HBO, The Plot Against America is already in its production phase.
It will feature an alternate American history, shown through the perspective of a Jewish family in New Jersey. In the story, politician Charles Lindbergh fights elections against Franklin D Roosevelt and wins. The xenophobic, aviator-hero then starts to turn the nation towards fascism. This is one of the very few political shows that Winona Ryder has taken on.
Cast Members To Star In HBO Miniseries
Winona Ryder will star as Evelyn Finkel, while Zoe Kazan as Elizabeth Levin. Evelyn is unmarried and had spent most of her life caring for her sick mother. Whereas, Elizabeth is Evelyn’s younger sister. Morgan Spector will play the role of Herman Levin, a proud father who works as an insurance agent.
Anthony Boyle as Alvin Levin, Azhy Robertson as Philip Levin, and Caleb Malis as Sandy Levin are also in the show. John Turturro as Rabbi Lionel Bengelsdorf will also star. He is a conservative rabbi from Charleston, S.C. There he gained his first synagogue pulpit and became a widower after the loss of his wife.
People Running The Show
The people behind all the works are David Simon and Ed Burns. They will work as writers and executive producers on the series. Additional ex-producers include Joe Roth, Nina Noble, Megan Ellison, Jeff Kirschenbaum, Susan Goldberg, and Sue Naegle.
David and Ed have also helped to create The Wire, The Corner, Show Me a Hero, Generation Kill, Treme, and The Deuce.
The show starring Winona Ryder, who is currently Joyce Byers in Stranger Things, is definitely to look out for!
