Why Netflix’s The crown is Canceled?

Published by

While we were not prepared for this, it has been announced that Olivia Colman’s starrer, The Crown, has been canceled. Although it is still running on Netflix, it will end after five seasons. Since the news came out, the fans of the show have shared their disappointment, and rightly so.

The Crown gave intimate details about the world’s most famous royal family.

Currently in its third season, The Crown is a highly acclaimed Netflix show. It is viewed and loved by everyone worldwide. Centered on Britain’s Royal family, it portrays the life of Queen Elizabeth II and her family. It is safe to say that the creator, Peter Morgan, has not held back from revealing the innermost details. Starting from the early days of her succession to the modern-day, The Crown depicts Queen Elizabeth II’s life in depth.

Although The Crown is canceled, it gave us some incredible performances

In the first and second seasons, the British actress, Claire Foy, performed brilliantly as the monarch. The Queen’s relationship with her husband, Prince Phillip, is portrayed beautifully by Claire and Matt Smith.

Similarly, Olivia Colman blew us away with her take on this magnificent real-life character. It also won her a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Drama Series.

Another interesting character in The Crown is Princess Margaret, a rebel of her time who lived on her terms. Both the actresses playing her, Vanessa Kirby and Helena Bonham Carter, have given tremendous performances.

The creator, Peter Morgan, recently announced that The Crown would be canceled after five seasons.

Initially, it was planned that the show would run for six seasons. However, it was decided recently that it would end after five seasons. While announcing the news, Peter Morgan said:

“At the outset I had imagined The Crown running for six seasons but now that we have begun work on the stories for season five it has become clear to me that this is the perfect time and place to stop. I’m grateful to Netflix and Sony for supporting me in this decision.”At the same time, he announced that Downton Abbey and Harry Potter famed, Imelda Staunton would be the Queen Elizabeth II of the 21st Century. While talking to the media, Imelda Staunton said:

“I have loved watching The Crown from the very start. As an actor it was a joy to see how both Claire Foy and Olivia Colman brought something special and unique to Peter Morgan’s scripts. I am genuinely honoured to be joining such an exceptional creative team and to be taking The Crown to its conclusion.”

So far, The Crown has exceeded our expectations, and that’s what we expect from the next two seasons. However, it isn’t very pleasant to know that real-life MEGxit drama will not be shown on our TV screens. The fact that ‘The Crown’ is canceled is unfortunate news, but at least we have some episodes to look forward to!
