For Millennials. By Millennials.
Despite the 34 year age gap, Katharine McPhee and husband, David Foster are in a blissful marriage. Sharing a strong bond together, they are never shy to joke about their age difference. Recently, she revealed the real reason why she married Foster.
After just one year of dating, David Foster popped the question.
While David Foster is a seasoned composer, record producer and music executive, McPhee is best known for appearing in American Idol. Although she did not win the contest, Katharine McPhee got a good start to her music career. It was also where she met her future husband. After David Foster’s fourth marriage failed, he started dating Smash star in 2017. The very next year, he asked her to marry him. In 2019, they have a lavish wedding in London, complete with a dreamy dress made by Zac Posen. Before the ceremony, she took to Instagram and wrote:
“Exactly 13 years ago today my very first single, ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow,’ was released right after Idol…. I’m marrying the man who produced it. Life is full of beautiful coincidences, isn’t it? Thank you for taking me over the rainbow, David.”

Recently, Katharine McPhee revealed the real reason behind marrying Foster.
Two days ago, Katharine McPhee celebrated her first wedding anniversary with David Foster. In an Instagram post, she wrote a heartfelt message:
A year ago today I married the love of my life. Thank you for always loving me and inspiring me in all aspects of my life. I love you. Here’s to the future! (Oh and happy anniversary to the other love of my life – this dreamy dress! 😂💕 thank you @ZacPosen!!)

Interestingly, she also revealed why she actually married her husband. When the pop star, Charlie Pluth appreciated the iconic song written by Foster and sung by Whitney Houston for The Bodyguard, McPhee responded hilariously. Katharine McPhee deemed the song to be the actual reason why she married him.
