When will the production of Mission Impossible 7 resume?

Published by

On June 4th, news broke out that the production of Mission Impossible 7 was halted because of an active COVID-19 case on the set. That was just one of a series of delays that the movie has faced ever since the outbreak of the pandemic. But the question is, when will production resume, and will it have an impact on the movie’s proposed release date?

According to Paramount Pictures, Mission Impossible 7 was supposed to resume production on June 14th. However, the studio has released no statement on the current status of production as of yet. Moreover, Paramount didn’t reveal how many people tested positive on the set. Their statement read:

We have temporarily halted production on Mission: Impossible 7 until 14 June, due to positive coronavirus test results during routine testing. We are following all safety protocols and will continue to monitor the situation.

After multiple delays, production work for the Impossible 7‘ began at the Warner Bros Studios in Hertfordshire, along with multiple locations across the United Kingdom. Spotting Tom Cruise in the North Yorkshire village of Levisham in April was quite an experience for the locals as he turned up in a helicopter for a stunt. Even while taking photos with fans, Cruise maintained social distancing protocols.

When Tom Cruise harangued the MI7 crew for not following social distancing restrictions

Cruise is also a producer on the Mission Impossible series and is quite strict on the imposition of COVID protocols on set. Last December, an audio recording emerged of him lambasting his workers on the MI7 set, even threatening to fire them. He said:

I don’t ever want to see it again, ever! And if you don’t do it, you’re fired. If I see you do it again, you’re gone. And if anyone in this crew does it – that’s it, and you too and you too… don’t you ever do it again… That’s it! No apologies. You can tell it to the people that are losing their homes because our industry is shut down. It’s not going to put food on their table or pay for their college education.

Christopher McQuarrie is directing Mission: Impossible 7, whereas the movie also features many other names apart from Cruise. They include Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Vanessa Kirby, Rebecca Ferguson, and Henry Czerny. The expected release is in May of 2022, however, we don’t know if the movie will experience any further release delays.
