The exciting new TV series ‘The Expanse’ has become quite popular, not just for it’s many similarities with the HBO’s show Game of Thrones. It’s because of the interesting narratives, plot lines, politics and character development that The Expanse has been deemed “Game of Thrones” in Space.

The Expanse Season 4 On Amazon Prime

SyFy has cancelled the show after telecasting the third season. Yet, Amazon Prime took the responsibility to air the fourth and upcoming season of the Science fiction drama – ‘The Expanse.

Whatever be the criticism, the show has received high ratings for its third season on SyFy. Expanse which is, currently, setting up for a fresh fourth season at Amazon Prime has completed its third successful season in June 2018.

How The SyFy Series Landed On Amazon

In early 2018,  Syfy channel had cancelled the show after three seasons. However, On May 26, at the International Space Development Conference, Jeff Bezos gave the good news that the renowned streaming service Amazon prime has picked up the series for additional seasons.

In fact, the attendees of the conference got excited when Amazon CEO stated:

“The Rocinante is safe.”

Rocinante is the fictional spaceship which could be called as the real hub for the whole show. This statement, thus, sparked joy and excitement in all attendees including the Expanse cast, who were present at the conference. Moreover, the CEO also announced that the production on the fourth season commences in October 2018.

#SaveTheExpanse campaign

The Expanse survived the cancellation last May via none other than a fan-driven #SaveTheExpanse campaign. The show’s supporters, enthusiastically, struggled to convince  Amazon to renew the sci-fi series which Syfy had cancelled after its third season. The campaign included a petition, marked with over 138,000 signatures to date, plus a GoFundMe webpage. The campaign crew thus managed to collect money for a #SaveTheExpanse banner which flew over the Amazon headquarters.

What Happens in The Expanse

The critically-acclaimed, science fiction series displayed hundreds of years in the future where humans have inhabited the solar system. The United Nations was controlling Earth, while Mars is under the influence of some independent military control.

The series, Expanse, revolves around the encounters between Mars and Earth to gain control at the Asteroid Belt. The belt is the main resource of air and water, lacking in both planets. With limited survival options and still the allies struggle to save the future of humanity. Amazon Prime has given a home to the series. However, the release date for the Fourth season is yet not announced.

The Expanse Based on a Novel by James S.A. Corey

The Sci-Fi Drama is, basically, an adaptation of The Expanse novels by James S. A. Corey.  The series has received a Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation and three Saturn Award nominations for Best Science Fiction Television Series. Academy Award nominees Mark Fergus and Hawk Otsby penned the script for the show.

The ensemble cast includes Thomas Jane, Shohreh Asgdashloo, Steve Strait, Dominique Tipper, Wes Chatham, Cas Anvar, Frankie Adams, Shawn Doyle, Chad L. Coleman, Florence Faivre, and Cara Gee.
