Star Wars community’s favorite animated show is returning in 2020 with 12 new episodes. Streaming on Disney+, Star Wars: Clone Wars will return to mark its Season 7 in the Disney’s newest streaming platform. Although there is no official release date, all we know for now is that it will come in February 2020. The previous seasons of the show have already shifted to Disney+ when the service was launched on November 12. As the Clone Wars continue, what will it have in store for us? Let’s find out!
For the uninitiated, Clone Wars take place between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith movies. Hence, Clone Wars is a canon series by George Lucas Films and productions. The show is full of the intergalactic war between Jedi and Sith, and Republic and Separatist armies. Republic used DNA from bounty hunter Jango Fett to create a clone army to serve their interest. Meanwhile, Sith relied on various battles and commando droids.
The show is popular for its story on Anakin Skywalker, his apprentice and Padawan Ahsoka Tano, and Obi-Wan Kenobi. The show gained such a huge fan base that at one point #BringBackCloneWars was trending to demand another season of Star Wars: Clone Wars. Now, we have what we wanted and here is the trailer:
There are also three clips for the show to give a better insight into what to expect from the new Star Wars: Clone Wars season 7:
In the final moments of the trailer, you can see that Ahsoka is standing beside a Mandalorian Bo-Katan Kryze. This suggests that Season 7 will be about the famous Siege of Mandalore, one of the final battles of the Clone Wars. Writer Matt Michnovetz claims that this battle was supposed to be for season 8. However, since the new season will mark the end, the battle is brought closer.
Well, Ahsoka (Ashley Eckstein) is coming back. Matt Lanter as Anakin, James Arnold Taylor as Obi-Wan and Dee Bradley as Rex and all the stormtroopers. We will also see Maul (or Darth Maul) return having the voice of Sam Witwer.
Maul was captured by Darth Sidious and later escaped in the comic series Son of Dathomir. Star Wars: Clone Wars director Dave Filoni also teased us with a picture of him:
Dave Filoni told Star Wars official website:
“Any opportunity to put the final pieces of the story in place is meaningful as a storyteller. I’m happy for the opportunity to define these things and the end of this part of the Clone War. It also makes me reflect on all the people that I got to work with over the years.”
It’s all about wait till February to find out what Star War: Clone Wars Season 7 has in store for us in its final season!
