The four-time Oscars winning movie Parasite and its director Bong Joon-Ho are not getting off the internet any time soon it seems. The film has deserved its rightful place in history after becoming the first foreign movie to win the “Best Movie” award at the Academy Awards. The movie might not be the greatest for the director himself, after working on several previous ones as well. However, after this magnificent win, even he would have to change his views. Just look at Jenny Han, writer of “To All the Boys: P.S I Still Love You”. She was equally excited to meet Joon-Ho’s son even.
Jenny Han has been a Bong Joon-Ho fan for quite some time. When she headed to South Korea to the set of the third movie of the TATB franchise, she did not expect someone special to her driving. The award-winning director’s son was behind the wheels, working as a production assistant for the upcoming 2020 movie. She described this confrontation to be an exciting and cheerful one for her as you can see:
Little did she expect the son of her favorite director to be working so near her.
“Anyway I love Hyomin, I love his dad, I love Korea!”
Perhaps what we learn from this story is that whenever we meet someone who is driving a car for us and his dad is a director, be sure to ask him his father’s name. Jenny Han seemed to be a fan of Bong Joon-Ho long before he became famous in Hollywood. This is because when Hyomin mentioned his dad’s previous movies, the writer immediately recognized the titles, and “screamed”, as she put it.
In the end, Han invited the director’s son to the premiere of P.S I Still Love You. Bong Joon-Ho taught his son really well and it shows through his actions and manners.
