After a lot of delay, Black Widow was released in July

Due to the pandemic and lockdown worldwide, Black Widow had to face many delays and hurdles. However, Disney and Marvel decided to release Scarlett Johansson starred in July this year. Initially, it was supposed to release only in cinemas. Later, the network announced that it will also stream on Disney+. Although it was one of the most anticipated films, it was not received like other Marvel films.

At the same time, people argued that it did nothing for the character, Natasha Romanoff. While the film itself could not gather the viewers, it did lead to a dispute between Scarlett Johansson and the network.

Shortly after the release, Scarlett Johansson filed a lawsuit against Disney.

Scarlett Johansson also said that it will affect her paycheck and earnings. Meanwhile, the network claimed that they had stated everything clearly. Despite the pandemic, the film grossed more than $218 million. Similarly, Disney+ made almost $60 million with just the subscription fee.

“I am happy to have resolved our differences with Disney. I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve done together over the years and have greatly enjoyed my creative relationship with the team. I look forward to continuing our collaboration in years to come.”

On the other hand, content chairman for Disney Studios, Alan Bergman said:

“I’m very pleased that we have been able to come to a mutual agreement with Scarlett Johansson regarding Black Widow. We appreciate her contributions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Also, we look forward to working together on a number of upcoming projects, including Disney’s Tower of Terror.”

With this settlement, we can be sure to see her in more projects by Marvel and Disney. However, she made way for many other celebrities who stood up to the studios. After Scarlett Johansson filed the lawsuit, Elizabeth Olsen came out in support of her.
