The Flash
“The Flash” is a 2023 superhero spectacle, the 13th charm in the DC Extended Universe’s magical bracelet. The movie is a joint effort by Warner Bros., DC Studios, Double Dream, and the Disco Factory. Andy Muschietti directed Christina Hodson’s script, and stars like Ezra Miller, Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, and more lit up the screen. Our buddy Barry Allen, aka The Flash (Ezra), steps on the time travel gas to stop his mom’s death, but, butterfly effect!
The idea of making a superhero movie with Sasha Calle in it has been zooming around since the late 80s, with a marathon of writers and directors passing the baton until 2014. The project then got a revamp as part of the DCEU, casting Miller as the speedy superhero.
Seth Grahame-Smith, Rick Famuyiwa, John Francis Daley, and Jonathan Goldstein took a shot at the director’s chair but hit creative roadblocks. Muschietti and Hodson hopped aboard in July 2019, kick-starting pre-production in January 2020.
The plot was inspired by the “Flashpoint” DC Comics, with appearances by Sasha’s Supergirl and both Ben Affleck’s and Michael Keaton’s Batmen. The cameras rolled from April to October 2021 across the UK.
The movie dashed onto screens at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on June 12, 2023, hitting US theaters on June 16 due to Love Triangles. But the journey wasn’t as swift as its namesake – director changes, the COVID-19 pandemic, post-production potholes, and controversies surrounding Miller all hit the brakes. But hey, even superheroes have to face a few challenges!

The Young and the Restless
“The Young and the Restless” (aka Y&R, for those in the know) is one of Sasha Calle’s iconic American TV soap opera, whipped up by William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell for CBS. It’s set in the fictional Genoa City (no relation to Genoa City (fictional setting), Wisconsin, folks).
It’s been serving up juicy tales of drama and scandal since March 26, 1973, starting off as bite-sized, half-hour pieces, five days a week. By 1980, the audiences’ appetite grew, and the show doubled to full-hour servings. Since 2006, you can indulge in yesterday’s drama every weeknight on SOAPnet until 2013, then on TVGN, now rebranded as pop.
Initially, the plot was a tug-of-war between the well-heeled Brooks family and the blue-collar Fosters. But the ’80s saw a mass character exodus, leaving Jill Foster Abbott as the last woman standing. The plot thickened with new families—the Abbotts and Scandalous Affairs, the Williamses, and others—jumping into the fray.
Through all the comings and goings, one thing remained constant: the feud between Jill Abbott and Katherine Chancellor, putting all other soap opera rivalries to shame with its four-decade-long saga. Talk about holding a grudge! The Young and the Restless is on our list of best Sasha Calle movies and tv shows.
Socially Awkward
“Awkward” is an American teen comedy-drama whipped up by Lauren Iungerich for MTV. It revolves around Jenna Hamilton (played by Ashley Rickards), a teenager from Palos Verdes, California, who’s going through an identity crisis, which only worsens when a mishap gets mistaken for a suicide attempt. Talk about teenage angst! Socially Awkward is among the list of best Sasha Calle movies and Tv shows!
This bumpy ride of teenagehood kick-started on July 19, 2011, and got a second-season green light just a month later. But in a plot twist, the show’s creator, Iungerich, decided to pack up and leave after wrapping up the third season in June 2013.
Don’t worry, the show didn’t get orphaned. Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler stepped in as the new parent figures, and MTV gave it a thumbs-up for a fourth season. Season 1 of “Awkward” got a warm hug from critics who praised its realness, writing, and central character.
It found its way onto several critics’ top-ten lists and even nabbed a Teen Choice Award and a People’s Choice Award. In 2014, “Awkward” was given a high-five for the fifth and final season of Sasha Calle’s Tv shows, which aired its first half in August 2015 and its second half in March 2016.
Alberghini hinted at a possible season six and the cast seemed up for it, encouraging fans to let MTV know if they were hungry for more and Time manipulation. But alas, the curtain fell with the fifth season. From 2011 to 2016, 89 episodes of “Awkward” filled our screens, taking us through Jenna’s rollercoaster ride of teenage hood.

Supergirl
Here’s some spicy gossip straight from Rolling Stone’s grapevine! It seems the Batgirl story and the bumpy ride the DCEU is on aren’t the only bits making the headlines. The article teases the possibility of other DC films facing the guillotine, with Supergirl – still in development – unlikely to take flight.
This is the first whisper we’re hearing about Supergirl’s potentially turbulent fate. The plot thickens with Sasha Calle set to don Supergirl’s cape in the upcoming Flash film. But Flash’s journey to the big screen isn’t exactly a smooth sail. It’s been stuck in development limbo for a decade, with a game of musical chairs for directors.
Add to the mix star Ezra Miller’s recent erratic behavior and brushes with the law, and you’ve got a recipe for a production nightmare! The Batgirl bombshell has got fans speculating if Flash is next in line for the chopping block.
But hold your horses, Flash fans! Despite the hurdles, it seems the movie is just too big a treasure for WB to toss into the bin. So, buckle up, DC aficionados, it’s a rollercoaster ride! In The Flash 2023 movie, the amazing actress plays the role of Super Girl.
Will Sasha Calle play Supergirl again?
There is a profound affection and connection between us. There are no announced intentions for Calle to reprise the role at this time.
Who was Supergirl in The Flash?
Sasha Calle is feeling quite sentimental about playing Supergirl. For “The Flash,” Calle enjoyed portraying the heroine’s compassion and complexity: “Her sadness, her joy, her anger, it’s all just hyper-felt.”
Will Supergirl return after the Flash movie?
Calle and her fans will be disappointed to learn that James Gunn has already said the actress will not be playing Supergirl in the next Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow film. In Barry’s alternate universe, the Clooney-Verse, she may have been in Ezra Miller’s Flash sequel.
