From Fat Amy to fit diva, Rebel Wilson truly transformed herself in a year. Recently, she celebrated her year of health and shared her struggle with body image issues. In an Instagram post, she revealed how she was at her unhealthiest just a year ago.
At the beginning of 2020, Wilson promised herself to embark on a year of health. She committed to working on her health and focusing on physical and mental well-being. In an Instagram post, Rebel Wilson encouraged her fans to join in and wrote:
OK, so for me 2020 is going to be called ‘The Year of Health’ — so I put on the athleisure and went out for a walk, deliberately hydrating on the couch right now and trying to avoid the sugar and junk food, which is going to be hard after the holidays I’ve just had but I’m going to do it! Who’s with me in making some positive changes this year?
Throughout her journey, Rebel Wilson focused on making wellness a part of her daily routine. Therefore, she opted for moderate walking instead of intense workouts and strict dieting. At the same time, Rebel Wilson attended a health retreat that helped her to clean out the toxic substance in her body.
While many believe that her weight loss resulted from surgery, Rebel Wilson denies these rumors. According to her, she has always been proud of her curves. Her agency signed her the second day she met them because of her looks. At the same time, Pitch Perfect star says that her goal has never been to be skinny. While talking about it, she said:
“I wouldn’t ever want to compete with what I call ‘the glamors’ — the really gorgeous people. I’m about the brain, the heart, and what’s on the inside. I feel really lucky to be the body type I am.”
In an Instagram post, Isn’t It Romantic star shared a picture of herself where she felt the unhealthiest ever. While talking about it, Rebel Wilson said that she mostly only shares her flattering pictures on social media. However, there have been moments when she felt really low. In the picture, she stands with the tennis star, Novak Djokovic, and in the caption, she wrote:
found this old photo in my emails and was like: whoa! I remember this was when I was at my most unhealthiest – being overweight and indulging way too much with junk food. Using food to numb my emotions. My father had passed away of a heart attack and it was such a sad time. I didn’t think highly of myself and wasn’t valuing myself how I should have. It’s interesting that I’m still smiling and still trying to be active – this was taken at a charity tennis tournament event (ps @djokernole is such a nice guy) – despite being in so much pain.
Furthermore, Rebel Wilson reminisced and shared how proud she was of the girl she was and everything she had achieved. At the same time, she encouraged her fans who might be dealing with body issues that it’s never too late to begin their journey. She wrote:
It’s not a race and it’s not a competition – it’s about respecting yourself and doing what’s best for YOU. So if you’re out there and reading this today, I just wanted to say: keep smiling and keep trying to be active!
It’s scarce for celebrities to be so honest about their personal struggles. Therefore, it is even more remarkable that Rebel Wilson shares her insecurities with her fans. She is using her influence in the right way.
