Mary-Kate Olsen and Olivier Sarkozy were recently in the headlines for calling it quits. And we might know why.
The pair had been married for 5 years before finally splitting up. Court documents revealed the actress had actually filed for divorce on April 17. But she was unable to officially file it as because of the global pandemic, the court wasn’t accepting non-emergency filings. But since Olivier had ended the lease of their place without telling her and she had to move out by May 18. Thus, Mary-Kate had no other option but to file for an emergency divorce order.
Although neither of the two have spoken up about the divorce, a source close to the former couple revealed what happened behind the curtains.
What Led To Mary-Kate Filing For Divorce?
Apparently, it seems like the couple failed to see eye to eye about a major life changing topic. And that is kids.
“Mary-Kate started coming around to the idea of having a baby and thinking about it seriously,” an insider told E! News. “But Olivier was a closed book on that subject and was opposed to the idea. He felt like he had closed that chapter of his life and didn’t want to go back. She didn’t like the idea of not even being able to explore the possibility.”
Olivier already has two kids from his previous marriage with Charlotte Bernard. However, it seems like that’s not the only disagreement the two had. Olivier is more of a social butterfly. He loves attending parties and meeting new people. While Mary-Kate is more of a homebody who likes being with her closest friends.
“She doesn’t need to be out on the social circuit,” the source revealed. “She’s very focused on work and her brand. That’s more of a priority and they weren’t in line on that.”
