For Millennials. By Millennials.
Can anyone imagine what would a new Pirates of the Caribbean movie look like if Johnny Depp does not star as Captain Jack Sparrow? We better get ready for such a stunt because there might be a chance for that to become a reality. The producer of the series Jerry Bruckheimer was conversing with Collider where he hinted the same for the sixth movie. Entering into the scripting stage Bruckheimer looks hopeful that Disney is going to accept their draft of the script.
Next, the movie will officially enter the production stage. However, when asked about Johnny Depp’s role, his answer did not sound as assuring.
Johnny Depp’s Role Is “Not Sure”?
Let’s put it as it happened: When the producer answered the question about Depp’s contributions in the new movie, here is what he said:
“The one we’re developing right now, we’re not quite sure what Johnny’s role is going to be. So, we’re going to have to see.”
Make of this what you must!
As for us, we think that there is a possibility that instead of getting a lead role, this time the actor might get a cameo or perhaps a limited role. This is because, if it was anything different then perhaps the producer might have simply said “yeah, obviously he’s taking charge”, which he did not. Then again, it is also going to be preposterous to simply throw away a huge character out from a franchise without even developing a story line. As per the speculations, this movie is going to focus on Redd, a female character that appeared in 2018.
Even series writer Stuart Beattie marks that the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie is definitely going to see Johnny Depp’s role reduced.
“I think he’s had a great run. Obviously, he’s made that character his own and it’s become the character he’s most famous for now. And kids all over the world love him as that character so I think it’s been great for him, it’s been great for us, so I’m just very, very happy about it.”
