After Hugh Jackman, Jesse Tyler Ferguson revealed that he got treated for skin cancer. The Modern Family star shared the news on Instagram. However, he is not the only one who survived this disease. According to him, his husband is also a cancer survivor.
Before making it big on TV, Jesse Tyler Ferguson started his theater career with Off-Broadway and Broadway. From Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream to The Tempest, Ferguson has explored all kinds of characters. At the same time, he played Leaf Coneybear in Tony-award winning The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. It wasn’t until 2009 that he lucked out with Mitchell Pritchett on Modern Family. Rest, as they say, is history. In 2012, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and his husband, Justin Mikita, started a non-profit charity, Tie The Knot. The charity raised funds in support of same-sex marriage by selling bow ties.

In an Instagram post, Jesse Tyler Ferguson shared that he visited the dermatologist and they found cancer cells in his skin. He wrote:
Reminder to stay up to date on your dermatology checks… especially if you’re fair like me. I always wind up getting something taken from me, every time I go. Today, they took a bit of skin cancer that they found. Don’t worry, I got it early and I’m gonna be just fine. (and, wear sunscreen! SPF 1000 for me!)
However, this is not the first time Jesse Tyler Ferguson had skin cancer. Back in 2015, he revealed that he got treated for skin cancer. While thanking his doctor, Ferguson announced the news to his fans on Instagram. In the caption, he wrote:
Thank you to Dr. Bennett & his entire team for taking the cancer out of my face. Good luck hiding the stitches tomorrow
While Ferguson is an actor, his husband, Justin Mikita is a lawyer. They got engaged in 2012 and got married the next year. Recently, he revealed that Mikita is also a cancer survivor. Ferguson has teamed up with Stand Up To Cancer to raise awareness about the disease, a research program. While promoting it, he shared a picture of himself and Mikita and wrote:
You may be thinking “oh, what a completely sweet photo of these two lovers!” But what you may not know is this also happens to be a sweet photo of two lovers who are also both cancer survivors!
At the moment, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and his husband are both cancer-free. The couple is enjoying their time with their newborn son.
