Did Jesse Eisenberg Lash Out At Interviewer To Look Hot?

We know Jesse Eisenberg is used to playing eccentric billionaires in his movies. His work as Lex Luthor and Mark Zuckerberg is pretty noticeable characters who fall under this umbrella. However, it looks like Eisenberg was being really mean to this interviewer, much like his characters. But, was he doing it to look hot?

Was Jesse Eisenberg being mean?

So, we all know Eisenberg plays some really shady and out of the norm characters, which are often mean, to say the least. That includes Lex Luthor from Batman v Superman, Mark Zuckerberg from Social Network, or his roles from Now You See Me and Zombieland. But, in an interview with Romina Puga from Fusion, it looks like he might be just as mean in real life.

Puga mentioned in a Tumblr post that she felt “humiliated by Jesse Eisenberg”, and that:

Jesse Eisenberg isn’t very nice.

And so, here’s how the interview proceeded. Before the interview started, Puga requested Eisenberg to say her name on the camera, which is a regular tradition for guests on her shows. But, that wasn’t going to be the case here. This is how the conversation follows:

Jesse Eisenberg: They’re not going to think it’s me right?

Romina Puga: Yeah. Maybe.

J: Ok… really?

R: I don’t know.

J: But how is it going to be integrated to one thing?

R: You’ll have to go online to see.

J: But I want to know prior to it.

R: You know what, just skip it. Let’s skip it.

Jesse Eisenberg: No, I’ll do it. I’ll do the thing. I just want to know what to give it?

Romina Puga: Say it like if we just broke up.

J: I probably wouldn’t say anything then.

R: Ok… [C’mon!!] Say it like you’re trying to find me in a crowded place.

J: Oh ok. Romina [he says it pretty softly.]

R: That’s it?

J: The thing is I didn’t want to find you. I was actually hoping to stay alone.

That sounds quite mean from Jesse Eisenberg, right? Well, sadly, he wasn’t done yet.

Eisenberg makes an issue out of a card game

So, after that awkward encounter, Romina Puga asked Eisenberg if he had learned any card games. This was because she was interviewing him over Now You See Me, since his character is a card master. He asked her if she had a card, to which Puga said that she had a whole deck. She promptly handed him the deck, and still made the scene awkward for her and everyone:

Jesse Eisenberg: You know the comedian Carrot Top?

Romina Puga: Yes. He’s horrible.

J: Well… (He points down as in saying ‘don’t say that just yet’) You are like the Carrot Top of interviewers. Yeah because you know they rely on props instead of just their own… you know…

R: Ok. I’m going to cry now.

J: No. Don’t cry now. Cry after the interview is over, because otherwise it’ll look like I was responsible for it.

R: Well, you are.

J: Well, I don’t want to know that though.

R: Well, now you know.

Romina Puga actually knew of this card trick that Jesse Eisenberg was playing, but she didn’t want to make the situation any more awkward. She called this interview a “self-esteem butchering” and later wrote in her post:

Actually, it’s a trick my brother would do to me growing up. I knew how it was done but at this point I just wanted to go cry so I “ooed” and “awed” until it was over.

However, even tho such demeanor is not something most people find pleasant, some people on Twitter found it hot! Yes, it’s true, but was it really?

Why did some people found his mean behavior hot?

Even though most people will find this mean behavior by Jesse Eisenberg appalling, it looks like some found it attractive. I can understand if you don’t believe us, so here’s the proof:

Despite what some users say, this kind of behavior should not be condoned. Eccentric billionaires look good only in the movies when they behave like this. But even then, their behavior is excusable. And it made the interviewer feel very uncomfortable as well. So no, I don’t believe this kind of mean behavior by Jesse Eisenberg looks hot at all. Even at the end of the interview, Puga says he was really mean, as she wrote:

I peaked around the curtain to ask Jesse about his neighborhood in New York (he lives a few blocks from where I used to live) and he immediately says, “You’re still here?”
