Jennifer Love Hewitt Talks Her 9-1-1 Character Maddie

While she was the ultimate leading lady in the 90s, Jennifer Love Hewitt took a break from acting after giving birth to her kids. However, she is back on our TV screens and Jennifer Love Hewitt’s 9-1-1 is a dream project for her.

After almost three years of break, Jennifer Love Hewitt returned to acting with 9-1-1

According to her, she took an intentional break and wanted to learn how to be a mom. While talking about it, she said:

 I needed to take some time for myself and to grieve my mother and needed to become a new mom; I needed to learn how to be a wife. I’ve really enjoyed the break, and I feel like now, having gone back into acting, it’s really done a beautiful thing for me in that it’s made everything that I do in my acting/entertainment life not less important but less like, “It’s everything all the time,” like it used to be.

Created by Ryan Murphy, Jennifer Love Hewitt’s 9-1-1 revolves around the lives of Los Angeles’ team of first responders including firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and dispatchers. Apart from Hewitt, the cast includes Connie Britton, Ryan Guzman, Angela Bassett, and Oliver Stark.

Jennifer Love Hewitt’s 9-1-1 character, Maddie, is going through a personal growth period

Although she joined the show in the second season, Hewitt has become a regular cast member and her character has its own fan following. Despite being kidnapped, Jennifer Love Hewitt’s 9-1-1 character, Maddie has gained a lot of self-confidence. According to Hewitt,

‘We wanted to give her a strength that was different from the Big Bear episode to show that there was growth and that somewhere in her gut she had a belief system this time that, you can save yourself and you don’t have to die, to give the audience something new to see in her.’

After the kidnapping, Maddie confessed to being in love with her boyfriend which is played by Kenneth Choi. While talking about her character’s love story, Hewitt said:

‘Here’s what I can promise you, there shouldn’t for the rest of the season be any doubt that those two people are a couple and that they’re together. ‘I think this episode solidifies the ‘Oh my gosh, we’ve almost lost each other twice. And we can’t lose each other again’ kind of moment in their relationship. So I think what’s beautiful about this is now you’ll get to see a lot of joy between them.’

Furthermore, she said that Jennifer Love Hewitt’s 9-1-1 character has a lot of joy in store for her. Needless to say, her fans should wait patiently for Maddie to experience happy times.
