Hasan Minhaj From Patriot Act Brings On John Mulaney For Deep Cuts

On this special YouTube episode of Deep Cuts, Hasan Minhaj invited an old friend to the show. Comedian John Mulaney and the Patriot Act host talk about comedy and Mulaney’s recent Netflix show, ‘John Mulaney & the Sack Lunch Bunch’.

Hasan Minhaj Invites John Mulaney

Hasan Minhaj quickly introduces John to the audience who comes on to the stage. Confused about whether to look at the audience, the camera or his old friend Minhaj, Mulaney asks the host where to look. Minhaj notices a similarity to this situation as he tells this is how presidential candidates feel like during their one-on-one debates. The Patriot Act host is kind enough to introduce Mulaney’s latest show on Netflix to the audience as well. ‘John Mulaney and the Sack Lunch Bunch’ is now streaming on Netflix, a children’s musical-comedy special.

John Mulaney also provided a brief introduction to his show:

“It stars me and fifteen kids ages eight to thirteen. And it’s a general examination of fear and anxiety, with songs and sketches for kids and adults.”

Mulaney explained that he wanted to do a show that was not stand-up comedy. Although this is his strength, he thought it is best to deviate from it a little. He said that he wanted to do a show that is similar to what he grew up watching, Sesame Street and 3-2-1 Contact. You can watch the full show here:

Hasan Minhaj and John Mulaney also answered questions coming from the audience. One of them asked how do the two know each other. To this, Minhaj told a detailed tale of how he first met Mulaney properly. He asked him to come to check a show of Hasan’s before dinner, and Mulaney took time out to go see him even during a heavy New York rain. Hasan remembers seeing Mulaney and thinking “Dad came to the baseball game!” Poor Hasan couldn’t believe that Mulaney would be there for him when he needed him.

Mulaney also answeres questions from Desi teens that were previously featured in Hasan Minhaj’s Patriot Act YouTube channel.
