Elon Musk’s Photo with Ghislaine Maxwell Goes Viral After His Twitter Interaction with Bernie Sanders

Elon Musk recently again made headlines for the wrong reasons. This time, he had a distasteful interaction with Senator Bernie Sanders on Twitter. As a result, he received incredible backlash on social media. But, this also brought up something from his past that he has categorically distanced himself from in the past. And that was a picture with the disgraced socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein’s associate.

When Elon Musk snarkily replied to one of Bernie Sanders’s tweets about taxing the rich with:

I keep forgetting that you’re still alive

What followed was a series of tweets from his many critics, who called him out for his callousness and hypocrisy. They openly highlighted how Musk has casually forgotten about American workers and Cobalt miners who supply him raw materials for his batteries. But, there were a few who highlighted a darker aspect of his life. And that was his picture with Ghislaine Maxwell:

And sure enough, other Twitter users were quick to make that picture go viral, calling Ghislaine Elon Musks’s “friend”.

Furthermore, a post on Reddit that went viral also brought up the picture and just ridiculed Elon. That’s what you can expect from Reddit. They highlighted how Musk’s father made a fortune in the Emerald mining industry of Zambia. Thus, he was quite well off even before Tesla and SpaceX became a thing.

That said, it is important to note that Elon Musk has addressed the controversy of that picture in the past. The picture was taken back in 2014 in West Hollywood during an Oscars after party hosted by Vanity Fair. Last year, he tweeted:

Don’t know Ghislaine at all. She photobombed me once at a Vanity Fair party several years ago. Real question is why VF invited her in the first place.

One of Elon Musk’s spokespersons said the same in 2019, telling a news outlet:

Ghislaine simply inserted herself behind him in a photo he was posing for without his knowledge.

Maxwell was the alleged madam for the disgraced s*x offender and child s*x trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. She has been in jail since June of 2020 over the allegations and over the years has been pictured with Epstein alongside many influential individuals belonging to the upper echelon of society, including Donald Trump and Bill Clinton.
