Elijah Wood Would Love To Cameo In Lord Of The Rings TV Series

Published by

The New Zealand government has finally given the green flag to Amazon’s crew to resume filming of the Lord of the Rings TV Series! Thanks to Jacinda Ardern’s effective policies, New Zealand has handled the COVID-19 pandemic better than anyone. And the expected Amazon Prime series is the first one of many Hollywood productions to benefit from it. And apart from us eager fans, Elijah Wood is also eager to know about the famous series.

Elijah Wood believes the title of the series is misleading

In an interview with IndieWire, Elijah Wood, who played Frodo Baggins in the original Peter Jackson trilogy, talked about the upcoming Lord of the Rings TV series. He said that he was “fascinated” by it, but the title is “misleading”:

I am super fascinated by what they’re doing with the show. They’re calling it ‘The Lord of the Rings,’ but I think that’s slightly misleading. From what I understand, the material they are working on exists chronologically further back in history in the lore of ‘Lord of the Rings’ or Middle Earth than any characters represented in ‘Lord of the Rings.’ It sounds more ‘Silmarillion’ era. Not to get nerdy, but it’s the Second Age of Middle Earth.

It looks like Elijah Wood knows his Lord of the Rings lore quite well, just like a fan. Moreover, Wood is buzzing about the fact that it’s being shot in New Zealand as he loves the place and the continuity it will have with the original trilogy:

In that sense, I’m just curious what the storytelling is going to be. It’s clear the world is Middle Earth and I’m glad they are shooting in New Zealand. It feels like there will be at least a visual continuity with what we had all done on the movies. It’s no surprise they are about to start shooting again, or have the go-ahead to do so, because New Zealand conquered this thing and they’re Coronavirus free. It’s one of the few places on the planet where [resuming production] is possible.

He would love to cameo in the TV series

As Elijah Wood mentioned, the show takes place long before Frodo’s adventures. But, that’s not enough to keep him away from being wanting to be a part of the TV show. When asked, Wood said he would love to have a cameo on the Amazon TV series, saying:

Absolutely. If there was a world where that made sense and was organic to what they’re doing than yes. Look, any excuse to get to go to New Zealand to work on something I am absolutely there.
