Disney’s original ‘Dog with a Blog’ Star Kuma Is Dead

Disney’s original ‘Dog with a Blog’ star, Kuma (the dog) has died at the age of 16.

Kuma, The Celebrity Dog Passed Away

Kuma, the talking dog from 2012 American sitcom ‘A dog with a blog’ is no more.

The animal who played “Stan” on Disney’s ‘Dog With A Blog’ and Nick Jr.’s Mutt & Stuff, has died at the age of 16. The canine passed away owing to complications of a recent stroke.

The Dog’s Showbiz Journey:

Commercial Writer and animal lover Sarah Clifford had rescued Kuma from a shelter in South Los Angeles. Clifford was a devoted mother to her canine. She had even taught 75 different tricks to her pet. It was Clifford’s parental dedication towards her pet that prepared Kuma to face the camera.

Kuma ‘s debut in the entertainment industry happened with McBride: The Chameleon Murder (2005). He later went on to grab more parts in projects like  An American Crime (2007) and Wrong (2012). It wasn’t until 7 years from his debut that Kuma got his well deserved major break on Television. The trained canine landed himself the lead role in American comedy, ‘The Dog with a blog’. And that too from amongst several bowwow candidates.

The sitcom’s Pasenda settings presented some children trying Stan’s unusual aspect of talking like a human (voiced by Stephen Full) from their family. The genius animal also ran on the show a blog that shared the friskiness of his adopted family. Initially, the show follows how the kids try to obscure Stan’s secret from their parents. They believe if Stan’s exceptional talking characteristic becomes popular, he would be treated as an experimental guinea pig.

Later, however, due to some unresolved issues between Clifford and the show creatives, Kuma quit the show. The makers then introduced a similar genius on the series.

Post its Disney venture, the dog starred in 74 Nick Jr’s Mutt & Stuff episodes as the “Grandma.” The show ran (2015-2017) and was set in a school for dogs, featuring Calvin Millan and his father, Cesar Millan.

Kuma’s Off-Screen Routines:

Clifford claims that Kuma spent his off-screen time receiving emails from fans. In fact, he was also a renowned ambassador for a dog shelter. Furthermore, the loyal mammal had also graced several charity shows as a chief guest. The forlorn owner mentions that it were Kuma’s persistent health issues that led to his saddening demise.
Sarah weeps in her email,

“Losing Kuma is the hardest thing I have ever gone through, he was my best friend and the smartest dog I have ever known in my 40 years of life. When the time came to say my final goodbye, I fed him his favourite foods, chicken and watermelon, which he ate with vigour until the very end.”

Born on December 15, 2001, in Los Angeles, Kuma Von Clifford, hence, took his last breath on 1st December 2018.

Fans can honor their celebrity dog by donating to an animal rescue shelter in his name.
