The sequel features comedy legend Eddie Murphy as the crowned Prince Akeem of the fictional African nation Zamunda. The plot of the film follows Akeem, 30 years after the original release of Coming to America, who is about to be crowned King. However, he first has to fulfil his father’s dying wish – he has to find his long lost brother that he never knew. And his name is Lavelle (Jermaine Fowler), a Queens street-savvy guy.
The dying King Jaffe Joffer, played by James Earl Jones, says in the opening scenes of the trailer on his deathbed:
You must heed my words before I’m gone, my son. Now, you will be king! But the throne must pass to a male heir. Akeem, it appears you have a son. He must be found.
And so, Akeem ventures to America along with his trusted friend Semmi (Arsenio Hall). Therefore, you can expect an absolutely crazy journey!
