For Millennials. By Millennials.
YouTuber Colleen Ballinger is showing us it’s never too late to make up for past mistakes. No matter where you are in life and no matter how long ago your mistake was, you can always own up to it. And then apologise for your actions.
Colleen decided to do the same when she made a YouTube video called, “Addressing Everything.” In this video, she proceeded to apologize for a 14 year old video she posted on her channel in which her sister and her had pretended to be Latinx women.

Collen Ballinger’s Apology
She starts off by apologizing and telling her audience she realizes that it’s not funny what they did. Although they thought so at the time. Colleen also shared that she feels ashamed and embarrassed of the fact that she thought this was ever okay to film. She admits the characters she and her sister (who was a teenager back then) played were “completely based on racial stereotypes.” Colleen added she was a sheltered teenager. She did stupid and ignorant things while clearly being extremely culturally insensitive.
Besides her racial remarks, she also took responsibility for how she was derogatory towards an overweight woman. This happened when she sat next to her on a flight. She admits the comments she made were awful. But besides admitting her mistakes, Colleen also assured her viewers she is not the same person today.
She delivered a sincere apology to all her viewers. For any of her remarks or comments that may have offended anyone.
“To anyone and everyone who was hurt or offended by the statements I made when I was younger. I am so, so sorry. I hope you all can see that the person I am today is so far from the person I was a decade ago,” Colleen shared.
