Catherine Reitman, Creator of Workin Moms Receives an Honour

Austin Film Festival & Writers Conference (AFF) was held a few days back in Austin, Texas. The premier film festival aims to highlight the writers’ contributions to television, theatres, movie, and any other media. This year, the 26th annual festival announced that the creator and writer of Netflix’s Workin Moms, Catherine Reiman would be receiving a reward. She was also in a panel with D. B. Weiss and David Benioff.

In a delightful post shared by Catherine, she shared her experience of the event:

Catherine Reitman received the Festival’s inaugural New Voice Award. She is popular for creating the two-times Emmy-Award nominated series, Workin Moms. The show originally aired on CBC, Canada. Fortunately, Netflix Original took over it and it got international attention.

Catherine has had many several roles, working in other film and TV show projects. She has been a part of How I Met Your Mother, I Love You, Real Wedding Crashers, Knocked Up, and Black-ish. Her producing and writing roles are also in Workin Moms, Miss You Much and web series Breakin it Down with Catherine Reitman.

Catherine and Game of Thrones Showrunners

Apart from receiving an honor at the Film Festival, Catherine Reitman of Netflix’s Workin Mom was also in a discussion panel with Game of Thrones creators, David Benioff and D. B. Weiss.

While all things were looking great at Catherine’s end, The Mary Sue reports disappointment for the GoT showrunners. In summary, the duo admitted that they had no idea what they were doing in the show. They spoke at length and admitted that they were not sure why George R. R. Martin chose them despite their lack of “bona fides”.

Well, how lucky for them, we guess?
